about why people are so angry about the abortion issue? instead of arguing and debating, maybe we need to realize that they are often the victems of the abortion industry. pray for them and be compassionate above all else.

Christian me - On the same token, should we refuse to let people be anti-polution until they are willing to pay for the technology of cleaner air? Or, should we have not been against slavery unless we were willing to pay slave owners recompense for their financial losses? Consider.

I am not saying that we should condone abortion - I am saying we should treat our brothers and sisters with compassion - convict them of sin, but surround them with love.

I will pray for them to find compassion for human life. If they can kill a child, they have more to worry about than just anger. As stated by Mother Teresa "I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing - direct murder by the mother herself...Because if a mother can kill her own child - what is left for me to kill you and you kill me - there is nothing between."
As pointed out by madbaldscotsman there are plenty of counseling programs for people who have gotten an abortion run by the Catholic Church
Christian_mennonite_pacifist: The Catholic Church offers a program called "Birth Choice" that helps young mothers with everything form emotional support to financial support. Its very worthwhile and my Church donates everything from time to money and clothes to this program.

I think the church has no business of being pro-life UNTIL we become a community that supports all mothers who are in situations that make abortion feel like the only choice for themselves. Maybe this means that churches need to adopt young pregnant mothers who feel hopeless, offering them spiritual, economic, and emotional help.
In other words, unless the Church is willing to be a place that welcomes these mothers-without-hope, we have no business telling them how to live faithfully through their painful situations...
This should at least represent our response to many cases of abortion. To those mothers who have abortions because pregnancy is inconvenient... i don't think this churchly solution would do any good... they just need to repent of their selfishness in my opinion.

I like to think of myself as pro-choice because I CHOSE not to have sex until I was married. I CHOSE not to father any children that I couldn't take care of. In todays world, there is no reason to create a baby that you are not ready for. There are all kinds of birth-control options. I believe that only in extreme life-and-death cases should abortion even be considered. The mother made her choice already

If you don't want to have babies, don't have sex. That's the whole point of sex, for procreation.
