Because after Christ died, the religion was regulated by men and they disagree often.

To answer your question you have to look back at old Europe back when the Reformation began. The reformation is the split between Protestant, and Catholic church because the Catholic church was corrupted. So this is how you get the two major sides of the religion. As for why there are Baptist, Methodist, and Church of Christ, and all the other branches of Protestant Christianity is simply because everybody has different opinions on how to worship God. Also Candice H said "Because people didn't like what the first Church (The Catholic Church) was teaching so they branched off and formed their own religion based on what they wanted to believe and not what Jesus taught." The real reason that people branched away from the Catholic Church is because it was corrupted, not because people did'nt want to belive what Jesus said read your history book!!!

There is no diversity in true Christianity, only in denominations. God came to earth in the flesh to remove the bondage of denominational ism. Once there are rules, orders, customs and memberships, there is no longer any Christianity but just Denominational ism. Gods temple is now our bodies and he does not live in a building built by hands. Denominational customs even if they state it otherwise, consider the church building a holy place and reject the truth. This is why there are so many different religions, simply because they are all false. Each one is promulgating a system of belief that is corrupt and serves the organization first, trying to increase membership and measures it success in kind.
The true church is those written in the Lambs book of life from the foundation of the world. No buildings, orders, rules, customs, or doctrines. Only a personal relationship with God, hearing his voice.
Those written in the Lambs book of life come from every kindred nation, and people. So with this promise all faiths are in and no need for conversion just a conversation with The Holy Spirit who recognizes all religions as false, and all people as equals.
Thank you for a great question,
Peace to you and your home,

Well, how are we really supposed to know what the bible is really telling us? everybody interperrets things differently and we can't all be right- so nobody really knows the truth. How do we know christianity is right anyway? there are so many other religions out there and so many other views on how the world was created and in reality there can only be one right answer and perhaps its just really pointless to get worked up about something that nobody can ever truly know.

Christianity asks for a personal relationship between God and the individual, so everyone has put their own personal emphasis or interpretation on it and when they convince a group that their interpretation is correct, you get a new sect or denomination. You can still have marriage as an institution with lots of different marriages and marital relationships, just as you can still have Chrisatianity with a lot of different denominations. In Christianity God accepts us as we are with our own ideas, maturity, and values. Christianity ask as to get an ever close relationship with God, not follow a set of rules or ideas, so you are going to have lots of differences.

What does the Bible teach on this subject?
1Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

because there is so mutch diversity in humanity. We all come from diffrent backgrounds and have different life life experiences. This makes some more comfortable in a liberal church and some in a legalistic church, and anywhere in between.

Religion is a collection of rituals and interpretations...they are not necessarily the "Truth" or last word on God...so that being said, the world is an amazing place as is our minds...lots of room for different interpretations of the mystery of life...also, there is no need to kill, hurt, ostracize, criticize, or burn someone who lives by a different set of interpretations...though that is our history.

every one tries to put God in a box that they can understand. God is much bigger than any box. My box of understanding is different than yours. sometime people match enough to form a liked minded community other time there is enough of a difference that we need to worship seperately. That is OK as long as we keep the focus on Christ and are willing to work together where our understandings cross.
