You do have a very twisted idea of what an atheist is. It seems brainwashing has been VERY effective on you.
Let me set things right. Not believing in God doesn't mean you don't want to live a good life. Quite on the contrary, SINCE this is the only life you'll get to live, you'd better live it well, fully and happily. So, I do "HOPE" things are good for me. And since I'm also a socialist, I also "HOPE" things are good for everybody else, too. If they're telling that crap in church, you should seriously consider what you're doing there!
BTW, for those of you who wonder why we non-believers hang around here, well did you expect we'd let this kind of concepts go not corrected here? That's one step before insulting!

Hope for what? I hope the war in Iraq ends soon. I hope my tax refund check gets here quick. I hope my car starts everyday. I hope I don't get killed by a weird guy in a bathrobe wearing fuzzy monkey slippers. I hope Jeff Gordon wins another NASCAR championship. I hope "good christians" finally come to their senses and realize there is no god...never was...is not now...or ever will be!!! I hope organized religions all over the world cease to exist. Think how much nicer the world would be.

Hope for what? I'm an aethiest and I'm doing fine.I would worry more about Agnostics if I was you, bunch of fence-sitters.At least I have the courage to take a stance one way or the other and not hedge my bets 'just in case'.If there is a God,and I don't believe that there is,I think he/she would care more that we tried to live good lives than believing in something unconditionally, just because we are told to.

Of course we do. We hope that tomorrow will be better than today, that good things will happen to the people we love, that people will find ways to make the future brighter and better for everyone.
Basically we hope for most of the things the faithful hope for. We are not as empty and unhappy as your pastor would have you believe.

Hope for what?
For mankind? Yes, we will eventually get it.
My mission here is to help people "get it" so my hope has turned to action. and hope is a mere starting point. My life gains more meaning when I have a mission.
What do you hope for?
And what are you doing about it? It could be the start of something grand!

Hope for what? I am athiest and have hopes for a lot of things; my future, my friends and family, my career, etc. Just because someone doesn't buy into all the ideas of an organized religion doesn't mean they have no soul or something.

Hope is intrinsically human; no other creature experiences it. And it has nothing to do with belief in any deity. Everybody hopes for a brighter future for themselves, those they love and the rest of the world.

They sure can. I used to be an atheist and even though I didn't believe in God I did believe in science and that there was an order to the universe, either by accident or something I didn't realize. Hope is something that is intrinsically human, no matter what you choose to believe in.

Religion does not 'own' hope. Hope is a thing of the earth. It's perseverance despite all odds. It's continuance.

Nope. "Good Christians" have told me that since I'm an atheist, I lack moral values, so I see little need to be burdened by something like hope either.
