first, not fair to you or any new guy ,, you still have feelings for the one you are no longer with, perhaps you need time to heal before dating again, put your energy into new interests, hobbies and then when you are not looking someone exciting will come along, let it happen on it's own these things take a lot of time

I don't have the answer to that as I have the same problem. There was a girl who was in my life for 7 years. Even though she ran off to Tennessee and married another man and I am angry as hell with her for basically leaving me without saying goodbye. I do miss her so and I probably always will.
I also know that these feelings do diminish over time. I must admit it has been 18 months since she left and yes there are times when something reminds me of her. A song or a place and I think of her, but those times are becoming less and less. Eventually I know they will fade away completely.
I know the question your asking yourself, if she came back into my life would I take her back. If you had asked me that 18 months ago I would have said, and without reservation, yes. Asking it now..I don't know. I can not with all honestly say that I would or I would not.

I know your pain all too well. I was in a similar relationship and still from time to time think about him. Men are hard to get over, especially the ones we loved for so long. The best thing that I did was went out with friends and tried to meet new people. It took me more than a year to actually start dating again but I did. I am now in the best relationship in my life. It just takes time. Hope for the best and you will get through these hard times. If you ever want to talk feel free to e-mail me or im me.
Sincerly,
Erin

Keep on meeting new people. Never be alone. Always have a friend with you. Date lots and lots of guys even if it is just as friends. Eventually you will get feelings for someone else and you won't miss that guy so bad. It will take a long, long time to get completley over him so just strap yourself up for a rough ride.

Sure you can. My dear friend got over me though we were together for 8 yrs.,...I had a difficult time though because I believe that I was chiefly at fault in and at not nurturing the relationship aside from being abusive, Things I regret, yet cannot change.
Took and takes awhile but it comes when you see your place in the past relationship in relation to the very present for continued friendships, in a better, or, a continued and bettering relationship, within yourself for others.
Regardless of gender.
Good Luck.

Take the person you miss out on a date and see if the feelings you have now are still there or if they're just sentimental.
Additional details would be helpful.

The best way to get over someone is to get under someone. Sleep with as many men as possible. Set up a few 3somes and 4somes with several different men, in the end you will be glad you did it.

You have to get rid of everything that reminds you of him.
I guess until you meet the ONE you wont stop comparing, Ive heard that usually takes an average of 3 years to forget someone you loved.

NO you are thinking of it the wrong way. The more men you meet the more they remind you of what he use to be. It makes you miss the good times. not miss him. Many guys can make you miss them, you can get over him but i doubt you will forget him.
