No if you find any mold on a loaf of bread, throw out the whole loaf. Bread can have invisible mold. I saw this on a 20/20 broadcast about food safety.

I wouldnt eat it. there could be other mold on there that is hard to see and you wouldnt identify right away. i always throw away hard bread or moldy bread no matter what.

According to the USDA, "porous foods can be contaminated below the surface," and therefore bread with any mold should be thrown out.

so you mean the mold that you SEE? because if you can see mold there is a lot of mold in the bread you cannot see. so up to you, i would not. especially do not eat molded rye bread.

No its not, as unseen mold may have spread to the rest of the loaf. You CAN do that with cheese however.

I have done it, but I think it's better if you toast it before you eat it.
After looking at all the reasons not to do it, I probably won't be doing it any more!
