You should definitely seek treatment and not try to ignore it. OCD manifests in many different ways and while you think you are ignoring it by not touching things, counting, or organizing, the process of avoiding them may often become ritualized. There are many ways for OCD to manifest that many people are not familiar with, like intense worrying that a family is in danger or ritualized daily activities (this is a tough one that is hard to overcome... I suffer from this type). You may think you are ignoring it, but you may just signal a different form of the disorder.

It definitly does sound like you have OCD. You can not ignore OCD and expect it to go away. Otherwise, it would have gone away by now. It usually only gets worse without treatment. You CAN actuallly go to the doctor about this,as your medical doctor can perscribe you meds just like a psychiatrist does. That's what I do. And if the doctor feels like he can not treat you, then he can at least refer you to a psychiatrist that they know. Do something to help yourself now before it gets worse and really controls your life. You will be glad you did. ((Hugs))

With OCD a sufferer will try to suppress or ignore these uncomfortable thoughts and often recognizes that they are unrealistic. You can not ignore touching things because you have to in every day life to get through the day. Living with OCD can be very hard. Compulsions often take up lots of time and energy, making it hard to finish homework, do chores, or have any fun.You can life a normal life with OCD you just have to take your medication and have behavior therapy to live that normal life and you will be fine.

You probably just have mild OCD, then. However, be careful! the longer OCD goes untreated, the worse it becomes, and you may not even notice it. It's better to get help and treatment now, before it's too late. Don't ignore your symptoms.

OCD, if not treated escalates. You will soon be unable to function properly without having to do the same thing over and over and over.
