I have also wondered why they don't, I mean if I'm driving along in my car and don't have my seat belt on I get a ticket. Why would anyone think it's okay to put about 30 children in a moving vehicle without buckling them up??

Supposedly, college bus seats are particular padded to be probability-free in a crash. i'm no longer confident that that's sufficient. after all, in spite of if the school buses had seatbelts, maximum youthful ones does no longer positioned on the seat belts, so that they does no longer be any safer than without them. truly, they'd be a lot less probability-free, because some children positioned the seat belts contained in the aisle to make different children vacation.

1. It would be expensive to retrofit the buses for seat belts.

2. Schools or bus companies would have to hire someone in addition to the driver to enforce the wearing of the seat belts because if the buses had them and the kids didn't use them they would be liable for not making sure that the kids had them on and would be constantly getting lawsuits.

Because the school bus seats are big enough and tall enough to where you do not have to have a seat belt.

Most newer school buses do have seat belts. I don't think it's a law yet, but it would certainly be a good idea.

It could save lives.

It's a money issue. Schools themselves don't have enough books, either.
