You are correct in your statement about when you're pulled over by any law enforcement officer. However, if they suspect that you have something illegal in your vehicle or on your person, they DO have the obligation to ask you about it (it's called probable cause). While you probably don't WANT to get into trouble, it's wiser to come clean than to lie. Lying can only make matters worse.

No. certainly it is not a threat that a site visitors police officer will stopped a rushing police van or police automobile even though the police automobile or van drove via a purple mild regardless of none logical rationalization. law enforcement officers supplies their very own appreciate to different law enforcement officers, except this law enforcement officers are in basic terms donning police uniform and doing something else like financial corporation theft or taking some hostages. Giving a value tag to a different cop. isn't this humorous or illogical to you. Even their superintendent or police commander could in all threat inform you why you gave a value tag to a different police officer once you your self is a police officer? despite if the reason being working against a purple mild it remains illogical to offer fee ticket to a different cop. those law enforcement officers on the automobile can extremely say they're in warm pursuit of a typical suspect in an unmarked automobile. so which you as a police officer who gave the fee ticket looking like a moron.

This is all true - but not recommended... Especially if you're not white!
What happens if you begin to act in this fashion is that they become suspicious...next thing you know, youre being asked to step out of the car and they will get a search warrant (because they have to ask to search your car - and you can tell them no. But again, if you do that, then youre hiding something, and then they are going to make you sit there for hours while they call a judge and get a warrant)

What is a better idea is to know this - when you get pulled over, typically, you know what for (either you failed to stop, were speeding, etc. Or, maybe you dont know what for...) Ask why youve been pulled over. IF youre pulled over and asked "Do you know how fast you were going?" - this is a trick question - the cop KNOWS you were speeding, but doesnt know the exact rate you were traveling, so he asks, and when you tell him, thats what you get dinged for. Instead, tell him you were doing the speed limit, or youre uncertain....its up to him to find out how fast you were going.
If youre given a BS excuse (such as a tail light out, etc.), simply ask for your infraction ticket and move on. DO NOT get uppity or confrontational with the cops - they will find you to be suspicious, and they will haul you in jjust to mess with you!

You won't get in trouble but they will take you in. They usually ask "Do you know why I stopped you?" so that you will be stupid and incriminate yourself for something the cop didn't even know about so just say "No." If they ask, "Where are you on your way to?" or "what's the hurry?" DON'T ANSWER THAT. Just say "here's my license, registration and proof of insurance." If they ask you again say "All my information is current." If they ask you again, tell them they have all the information required.

Never ever ever talk back to a cop or physically touch a cop. They generally tend to have control issues and will arrest you for "failure to comply" or "assault on an officer".

It actually depends on your state, in Ga for example they can ask the driver and any of the passengers their name and birth date and you have to tell them.

And of course yes they are allowed to ask you anything they want, ( no law says they can't) you just don't have to answer.

Now you tell them "none of your business" I bet they will find alot more car problems, tail light out, or so on.

That is correct, although using all caps doesn't make your message any more important.

People should always be aware of their rights. Failure to know your rights means giving them up to someone else.

A police officer is allowed to ask you anything he wants though. You just don't have to answer.

You have never heard of "the right to remain silent ..." and the fact that you remain silent cannot come into evidence against you in a court of law?

Print this out for the next time you want to exercise your right to remain silent:
