Actually, Muslims think Christians are wrong, Jews think Muslims and Christians are wrong. Buddhists think the same thing, Hindus think the same thing. Why do you think the Muslims and Hindus are fighting in India, the Christians and Muslims in the Philippines, the Israelis and the rest of the Arab world, for fun? No, for religious reasons. Before you start criticizing religions, do your homework first.

And BTW, the Christians didn't bring down the Roman Empire. The Roman empire lived on even after Rome fell, in the form of the Byzantine Empire. Rome fell cause it couldn't pay off the Germanic tribes, the Huns, the Vikings. Byzantine Empire fell to the Ottoman Empire.

Fortunately not all Christians act that way!

I equate such pious behavior with ‘snoddy’ behavior. I have seen many examples of this. Often the children are sent to bible school. Their parents throw parties when they get confirmed, baptized etc. At these parties the child gets gifts and becomes the center of attention. The child is then convinced that he or she is of a higher class than the other children. Unfortunately this attitude tends to follow the child into adulthood.

I have also noted that the Jweish/Christian bible specifically forbids other religion.

I study Zen Buddhism. I don’t know that I am yet disciplined enough to call myself a Buddhist. In case you wonder what Zen is, see here: http://www.rubinghscience.org/zen/zen1.html

I know the Christian Bible pretty well. I went though three years of bible school, and own two bibles. When confronted by pious Christians, I usually just subtlety let them know that I likely know more about their ‘rulebook’ than they do. That usually lets them know that they are not going to successfully convert me.

Good Luck;

A TRUE Christian will respect other people's belief systems.

The truth is as a christian we believe that only GOD has the right to judge others because we believe that only god can see what truly goes on in the hearts of others. We also believe that God should not be replaced by material things such as money or things or our own little selfish needs. To love God is to love everyone...this means we do not JUDGE ... the complete opposite of Judging is forgiveness.

When a person judges another (evaluates whether or not one is worthless or not) he or she places hime or herself in GOD'S SHOES. We do not have the right---Judging causes us to treat others less than a human being rather than as equals as we all are.

I am a Catholic -- catholis means UNIVERSAL -- I do not judge others because I know we all have reasons for our beliefs -- good reasons. When someone says that an atheist is a sinner -- thats not necessarily the case....

What is "sin"?

A sin is an Aramaic term meaning to MISS -- it is an archery term. It simply means you got it wrong. But in Christianity there are three things that mae anything a true SIN :

1. Mal-intent
2. Intentional
3. Done with complete knowledge of it's nature

bottom line christians do not have the right to judge -- but then neither does anyone else =)

Thats every religion. Everyone thinks thier right and they assume the world will be a better place if more people were like themselves. Which is one of the many flaws humanity cannot fix. the most "popular" will always try to take over a lesser one. Which is why i think religion is the worst invention created by mankind ever. Religion creates wars and chaos. It corrupts peoples minds. It seems to be a way to justify the evils that we all have inside by doing those evils in the name of a highger being. Millions of people throughout history have died and been persecuted for it. Evey religion has had or will have itz chance to be the popular religion and the most powerful and try to do what christians do now which is put down other beliefs. Just ignorance. lHistory jsut repeats itself in patterns.

I do not "bad mouth" others, but I believe that the Bible is the only complete truth. I do research other religions (my wife is buddhist from when I was not a christian) and use that information to try to explain any questions that are posed to me.

If I believe that Christianity is the truth, then all others must by nature be false as they all teach things which are at some point in conflict with Christianity.

I am a Christian, and I do not badmouth other religions. I also do not believe that all other religions are wrong. I am sure that there are other people like me. I believe that certain ASPECTS of some certain religions are wrong..but that is the same with most people. I try to be an open-minded person, and I would appreciate it if you would not characterize us all as "bigots." Each individual person is different, and some people call themselves Christians, but aren't, and they put a bad name on the rest of us.

Perhaps some Christians are not following the command to love one another. I haven't attacked others each has the right to their beliefs we do not all have the same call. I could also say for all supposed bad mouthing Christians do, consider the anti-Christian postings as well it may be in response to that. AS unpleasent as it is we are very lucky to have a public forum to discuss religion\spirituality we all have the right to discuss and practice how we are called to- all people.

I feel your pain....

but let me give you a little hope

Their is a religion called Universalist Unitarian

This type of congregation consists of not only Christians but Jews, Buddhists, Pagans, Taoist... and on and on.

They celebrate diversity and learn from each others past religious experiences. Hence the root word Universal.

Hey, with the congregation I was in, after church, we would have brunch and discuss all different kind of stuff.

what would be the point in calling ourselves Christians if you say that we should believe in other religions too?
you cant be a Christian and an athiest at the same time as believing that Mary is Holy and not Jesus.
my point is that if im Christian and if i grew up like this im not going to believe what others say and im not going to following everyones religion.
i understand that there are millions and millions of people out there and each believe in their religion, so im not going to bad mouth them about that. this is a free contry.
i just believe in my religion and in knowing The Truth. and if you dont then thats fine.
i know some things about other religions. im not closed minded. but that doesnt mean that im going to believe in them.
i believe only in mine and i dont think that is wrong. i wouldnt want to go to 4 different churches in one month to listen to 4 different preachers preach about 4 different religions. that would be too much to take in.
that is why they made so many different religions becus not everyone will believe in one. people are all different and have different believes.
so let us believe what we think is The Truth!

Christians do it because they believe the metaphorical symbolism to be literal. They are also arrogant and in most cases ignorant. There is no "chosen ones of god" and the first to claim that status were the Jews. They forget that their religion is the youngest being only 2000 years old.

I am a pagan, a witch to be exact my religion predates all patriarchal religions. Mine is matriarchal the earth mother, she was worshipped long before "god" came along.
