Alrighty. So... The last month i have been on a low calorie diet + excersize. I've done absoloutely everything they have told me to do. I ate low calorie foods like salads and fruit, had vitamins everyday, drink lots of water. I excersize for an hour a day and try to keep my metabloisim active. But, by nowim supposed to have lost 10 lbs. I have gained 4.5!!!!! It doesnt make any sense and i'm really sick of this. I was on a plan to loose 17 lbs but now at best i'll only loose 7. I really need someone to help me and give me some advice.

I wouldnt worry about gaining weight, but it all depends on how much you weigh now. You need to know that muscle weighs more than fat so if you are doing weights at the gym, which is a good thing, that may put on some lean weight on you which you need. If you only do cardio then you will only burn fat but not be toned, weight training tones muscles. You want to make sure that your body fat is between 16-22%, that is average and it all depends on how old you are and some other factors. I would keep with a pretty good diet, doesnt have to be low carb or calorie but just watch your portion control. Dont eat late at night either, like not after 8pm. Drink alot of water too. Exercise at least 3x's a week working each body part for like 45 minutes on those 3 days with about 20-30 mins of cardio on weight training days. On non-weight training days, just do cardio, like 45-60mins. I hope this helps, it worked for most of my clients so it should for you too. But remember if you are already too skinny, then you need to be careful by what you are doing to your body. One last piece of advise. Work on a shot term goal of like 1-2 pounds a week, nothing too big. Also remember that 3500 calories equals 1 pound. Keep that in mind.

Hi i have recently lost 17 pounds by doing a cabbage soup diet during the week...on weekends you can treat yourself to some of the foods you really like. all you have to do is look on the internet & type in cabbage soup diet & it will give you the receipe. It really does work if you stick to it...i ate it all day long anytime i was feeling hungry & for dinner something good like a peice of fish & salad with low fat dressing or chicken with a baked potatoe but of course don't put the butter & sour cream. Best thing to stay away from is fast food i used to love it. I walked alot but no hard exercise. Anyways give it a try & see if it works for you good luck

well, when you start to excercise, you begin to build muscle, which will cause you to gain weight. (muscle weighs more than fat) right now you are turning fat into muscle, and this is a good thing. it typically(if your doing it the healthy way) takes about 3 months before you will see any real physical change in your body. and you need to build the muscle too because after you build some muscle, your workouts will become more effective b/c muscle also helps you to burn calories faster and THEN you will start to see a change in your weight. and your weight on a day to day basis tends to fluctuate up or down by 5 lbs. so dont get discouraged!! you should focus more on how ur lifestyle change makes you feel and results that you see, not numbers on the scale.

I'm going to guess...but even if you eat the "right" foods, you can still eat too much of the good stuff. You can eat fifty salads in one day, exercise, drink water and you'll still gain weight. Excess calories are stored by the body as fat for use as energy later.

Try and keep track of how many calories you're eating.

Also, if you're exercising faithfully (especially weights), muscle weighs more than fat.

Who is the "they" that is telling you how to do this? Are they professionals? If yes, then ask them what happened, is it possible that the weight you have gained is muscle? What have your measurements shown regarding your progress? Perhaps you are taking in too few calories for the amount of exercise you are doing.. it's hard to say not knowing all the facts, how many calories you're taking in, how much you are burning, your BMI, etc. It may be time to check you a personal trainer at your local gym. I wish you the best.

Stop dieting. People who go on diets gain all the weight back by the next year. (98% anyway)

Try this:
Don't eat if you aren't hungry.
Do some light excersise a few days a week, maybe jogging a mile or so?
Don't eat if you're bored

that should help!

My advice is to not weight yourself. I am 5 11 and weight 200 lbs and i have 5 percent body fat. You should find a tool to measure your body fat to see if your losing fat.

You don't say how much you currently weigh. I have the feeling that you don't really need to lose any weight at all. You've probably just put on muscle from the exercises, which weighs twice as much as fat.
