Does anyone still really respect Jessee Jackson?

Question

To me when JJ gets involved in any issue -its the 'Jump the Shark' moment.
After finding out about his bastard child and countless instances of publicity stunts, I am just surprized that he gets anyone to pay attention to him when he pulls these stunts. He is the most racist person in American public life. (I am not Caucasian BTW, I have not dog in the race).
Why do people still care about what he has to say or what he does?

I have to I am white. If I say I don't respect him then I will be called a racist.

Because at one time he was a very influential and more importantly a needed person in the civil rights movement. Most people don't know this because it tends to be hidden by those who see Martin Luther King Jr. as a hero (he was by the way), but Martin Luther King failed miserably to change the racists views that were often held in the north. Most don't know racism was so rampant in the north as well mostly because they focused on the south as the former home of slavery. And MLK's style just did not work in the north.

Jesse Jackson was placed in charge up north of the civil rights movement once MLK realized he couldn't do it but that his talents were much more attuned to helping in the south. J. Jackson turned everything around in the north with economic sanctions of businesses that refused to hire black people. And racism is still alive today, so J. Jackson can still be of some use. Unfortunately he fails to realize that much progress has been made. He should continue the fight, but he needs to show some appreciation for what has already happened among the whites.

As far as the incidents he's involved in, I agree they are a detriment to him and his ideas. But remember, Rush Limbaugh has problems with drugs, George Bush had problems with drinking, Senator Jefferson had bribery, Bill Clinton had perjury. That's what happens with leaders, they are human too. They make mistakes, but while our mistakes are often left more or less in the dark (sometimes a spouse finds out about cheating or you may be caught drinking or whatever, but the country won't find out about it), leaders have theirs dragged out into the light by all their enemies. But while this does detract from the leaders it shouldn't completely dismiss them or this country would be in shambles.

I agree with you. I can't image anyone taking Jesse Jackson seriously these days. It's such a joke that he use to preach and be so self righteous, and then to have us all find out that he's a hypocrite. The other thing I noticed is that anytime someone famous - who is black - gets in trouble, Jesse is right there saying he's innocent. How does Jesse know he's innocent? Just because the person is black? If that's not a racist, I don't know what is.

I agree with you, I don't take Jesse Jackson seriously at all. He is the biggest racist too because he only sees the race of the person and usually fails to take in the circumstances and facts of each situation.

I do not like JJ for these reasons: JJ uses his own people to force companies to pay him to stay off their backs. My father talked to JJ in Indonesia and suggested JJ go and talk to the poor people who live in huts and JJ would not do so. I always thought people of religion taught race was not a factor in working and walking together. JJ cannot say he tried to carry MLK's beliefs in working together.

I never have respected him, nor will I ever. He has made a joke of his cause. He needs to step away and bring in leadership that will regain some credibility that has been lost by his misguided leadership.

I know a number of ppl who have no respect for him, including me. You are right about him. He is one of the most racist ppl and continually keeps racism alive!
