Most insurance doesn't cover it. You may be looking at anywhere from 300-500 to have it treated.

I have lock jaw as well (TMJ). I also have athritis. TMJ is very common in kids with athritis. I am going to start a new medicine called remicade that is supposed to help, but I'm not sure yet. There is a special doctor called a neuromuscular dentist that may be able to help you.
http://www.leadingdentists.com/
this site has lists of symtoms, how they can treat you and lists of neuromuscular dentists in your area. Good luck, I know it can be very painful..... I've had it for a good 4 years and they are still unsure of how to treat. But I, myself have never been to a neuromuscular dentist, so maybe that is the answer to your problem. And I am unsure if insurance can cover this procedure. I am sure someone on the site can give you an estimate if
insurance doesn't cover.
Oh yes and ignore little miss afterflakes, lock jaw is most definitely not fatal, she's just being a pain or honestly knows nothing about it.

I'm assuming you aren't meaning tetanus, but a locked jaw. which is a muscle spasm or dislocation of the jaw. athis also is best treated in the hospital emergency room since a dentist doesn't have the necessary muscle relaxants and pain meds needed to fis the problem. It can happen any time you open your mouth too wide.

If you are refferring to TMJ - the jury is out on surgery effects and medicines. Lack jaw, in itself is treated not by a dentist, but by a specialist. A periodontist may review your case - but a bone or muscle surgeon would be needed. In either case - insurance will cover a portion of the cost of surgery.
