I get severe stomach cramps when I'm under stress. I had to drop out of college this last semester on account of the stomach problems. After I was out, the stomachaches went away. Now, my mom is sick in the hospital and I've got the stomachaches again. So obviously, they are the result of worry and stress.

How can I beat this?

RandyGE has a good answer, I would add, take a neutral bath ( 98-100 degrees F. soak in it for about 30 min. and relax while you soak, this is also helpful for a stress headache. When you pray and give your troubles to God, LEAVE THEN WITH HIM, otherwise He can do nothing with them. It is just like you and a friend are standing around, and you have an apple, you say to your friend 'here take this apple and eat it', and you friend says 'OK' and reaches for the apple, but you do not let go of it, so your friend starves to death because they could not eat the apple that you would not let go of. Do you see? Release you troubles to God. I do and it stopped me from getting ulcers, (again).

The answer is twofold. 1. You must get a full medical work up
Anything gastro intestinal can have many causes and likewise there are many good treatments to address your problem and keep it under control, thereby preventing more serious problems from developing.
2. Address the emotional factors. If your problem was severe enough to cause your to drop out of school it likely indicates a fairly strong level of anxiety as you suspect. There are no quick fixes for this and you really need consider getting professional support through some form of counseling. Either a licensed therapist or mental health center in your area would be able to help you evaluate both the causes for your reactions to stress and help you develop effective ways to manage stress in your current and future life. Depending on where you live, most major cities also have clinics that specialize in anxiety related problems and those will offer both medical and therapy support.
If you're not sure where to go , a good starting point is your local hospital , out-pt clinic and even your college will likely have a student support office to help direct you to the right place.
This problem, while very difficult, can be treated and improved .
Just be open to getting the support and help you need. Good Luck

Pray. And breathe deeply, a lot. This relaxes the muscles. It really helps. Pray and give it to Jesus, but also find a group of friends you can just do something fun with for a night. Forget about it for a little while. God will get you through it. You just have to trust him.

Exercise, walking, yoga classes all help. We all have stress just see what helps you to reduce some of yours. Also, watch what you eat when you feel stomachaches. Light diet, no spicy foods at that time.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Pray. Read the Bible. Listen to nice, calming music works for me too. These 3 ways are great ways to relieve stress.

I have your same problem. I beat it by a)taking medication, b)burning lavendar incense and breathing deeply, c)taking a moment to relax and read or listen to music, and d)doing yoga. Yoga is an excellent practice to get in touch with your inner self and learn to relax.

Prayer always helps me. Not trying to force any "religion" on you, but knowing Jesus has left me with no reason to stress out. There's incredible peace.
