If he annoys you, the problem is in you. Deal with it. As a former friend, you should at least treat him with civility. Use "politeness" - do not backbite and gossip. Do not attempt to change his life for your convenience. That is not nice, much less "Christian."
Deal with him as though he were a mildly amusing stranger. Evidently (since you used to be friends) you once found something attractive about his personality.

One of the most difficult lessions Christians must learn is to "speak the truth in love" (Eph. 4:15) to our brothers and sisters. This means one must set aside all condemnatory words and speak to the person in the way we would want to be spoken to in the same situation.

Ask yourself: if the situation were reversed, how would you want your friend to say these things to you? The answer will lead you so you may speak truthfully and lovingly to this person.

Peace and love in Jesus.

this is actually a "back handed compliment" of sorts. he wants to be just like you! I have 3 kids myself and I have seen my children's friends doing this same thing. I know how frustrating it is to have a "shadow".. but hang in there and be patient (remember God is long suffering, and we should be too) and I think he will eventually find his own path to walk, instead of following you.

You have gotten lots of good advice so far, especially from Suzanne. But for anyone to be able to help you with exactly what to do, we would have to know what he does that bothers you!

Sit down with him and have a chat about boundaries.
That is what an adult would do. Christianity has nothing to do with it.
