I lived in Mexico for 2 1/2 years in the late 90's and have visited frequently on vacation and still stay in touch with many of the firends I ve made. On the whole Mexicans are good, hard working people, but they have their loosers as do we and every other nation or race.
I really dislike the use of the word race, or Mexican or African Americans. These words only serve to continue fosters stereotypes and prejidice.
Also there is not one race in Maexico as your state out of ignorance, there are many. White Eurpean, Black, Indian, indigenous, and every combo inbetween. There is also a high degree of bigotry and prejudice in Mexico today simply based on skin color and not so much on race or origin. IF you are a dark skined person of Caucasion ancestory you will find road blocks everywhere you go still today.
You must also keep in mind that the vast majority of Mexican illegals are here becasue they never had the opportunity for a decent education in thier country and therefore have little saleable skills. This coupled with the prejudice they faced in many cases becuase of the color of their skin in Mexico.
The majority of Illegals here again have not had an opportunity for what we would call a good education and some are easily swayed by charismatic selfagrandizing activists and politicians.
All they wanted to do is stay in our country. Wouldnt you dothe same thing and feel the same way if you had their back gound, and lack of opportunity in your own country.
They are no different from your parents or grandparents or great great great granparents who came here. They are doing the jobs that the former imagrants offspring feel that they are too good to do.
This wouldnt be getting the publicity and support that it is without 9/11. Things would jsut go on as they have for generations with the ocaisional conservatative complaing form time to time and ocasisonal liberal barking back with more rhetoric.
We need to devlop a program that will allow as many in on a temprary basis, as can find jobs and support themselves, While at the same time tightening the boarders and keeping the Muslim extremists out. They are the ones that wnat to hurt our country not the Mexicans.

Well, Mexico sees America as the Big Paycheck, and they'll cry 'foul' at anything that looks like it might prevent them from getting what they see as 'their share' of the United States and the economic progress we're making...sort of, until you count the debt componenement of that 'progress'. Most mexicans could frankly give a crap if your neighborhood gets trashed in the course of THEIR progress, some still keep that special little chip on their shoulders over the fact that their country lost a war, and some land, to the United States about 160 years ago, give or take, and what most americans frankly want is for the illegal aliens from ALL over, not just Mexico, but EVERYwhere, to go home and fill out their papers, or just stay the damn hell out.

I think getting the government to erect a border fence and emplace travel controls vs. Mexico is not only proper and ethical, but also necessary, because if we get to the point where economics are the ONLY consideration in our domestic and foreign policies, well that's kind of what you call 'selling out', and unfortunately Congress has proven itself far too salable as a body in recent years, and not in tune with voters, the actual residents and citizens of the United States. Well, if Congress won't listen, well they can get ready to find new jobs after November, and the NEXT Congress WILL listen to the voters, not just the meat-packers or whomever it is they're taking payola from this week. Mexico needs to move home, and start fixing their own problems. They're going to have an election, too, time to make those ballots count for something and reform their country into something worth living in, and not just something to escape from...

You are NOT American. You are a U.S. citizen and don't own the continent, either North or South. Do you like having cheap strawberries, road crews, construction work, janitors, maids, clothing,etc? Those will all go away if you ever managed to patrol the border.
Which you can't, no matter how hard you try. Illegal immigration is a fact of life for most of the world, and all you're doing is making it more profitable for the coyotes. It actually supports a large part of your economy.

JEALOUSY!! Plain and simple. Our country has huge opportunities that people of other countries would love to take advantage of. We are among the richest in the world but illegal immigrants sap the resources for people who are Americans. Have you ever noticed that many of the people who are on Welfare are Hispanic or African-American? These people seem to think this country was put here to take care of them. I was taught growing up that if you don't work you don't eat. Living on a working farm makes that a very literal statement. And when the time comes when you or I need some of these services, we can't get it. Now I hope no one calls me racist because some of my best friends are either Hispanic or African-American (I am Caucasian). My friends also work very hard to provide for their families.

It's their way to side tract the issue about all of the illegals that are in this country and breaking the law. By clouding it with things like race, history, etc., they just cause as much confusion as they can and try to distract us from the real issue, those that are breaking the law by being here and continue to break our laws by staying here. Yes it is one of the largest groups of illegal immigrants in the states. But people need to pay attention to all of the other immigrant groups who are sneaking in terrorists. You are all paying attention to the larger group because there are so many of them. But they aren't causing as many problems as the smaller groups. Look what happened on 9/11, while everybody was worried about the Mexican immigrants!
