Go to Wikipedia... I can't find a link now, but they have a page that lists out all of the commercially-operated aircraft that are in service today. Not all of them are being produced anymore, but the list will give a greater understanding of the vast number of airplanes in service around the world.

ok, first of all i am going to susspect that "plain" is for the word plane as in aircraft, not the wind swept prarie.

Well to answer your question, there are many "plains" in production as of this date, however there is no current database of ALL planes in production, espcially light aircraft, as many are kit-built. Try the A/C data section on airliners.net. they probably have the best production data available.
