or flowers and a card..the spa idea was good as well

Get her an MP3 player, load it up with all her favorite songs and send her out of the house for the day while you take care of everything. The MP3 player will make her feel young (listening to all the songs she listened to in high school, it never fails), and the time away will make her rested and happy.

What a wonderful person you are, so thoughtful to get something for your mother.
What does she like? A cookery book with the latest oven or electric stove? Needlecraft books and things that go with it?
Best quality clinical footwear she`ll really appreciate.Get her something that she`ll cherish.
My highest regards to a dutyful son.

A facial or a day at the spa! OR....a fine handbag (nothing cheap), or a manicure/pedicure session; a massage. She will love you for that!
