Well my firend. I was actually just in a sermon last week that the key topic was just because you are a christian, do not check your brain at the door. We, as in christians, don't have a problem with people questioning the bible, because we know its true. However our arguments are not just to defend the bible, but to make other people (non-believers) know of its exsistance and history, and why beyond a shadow of a doubt its true. The more we tell people and "prove the wrong" it makes people think that wow there may really be a God, and I just didnt know it yet. With a result of them wanting to follow God. And thats what christians really want, more people to believe in God and follow his ways. So its not mostly that we have a problem with people questioning the bible, we actually enjoy it. Cause then we have to go research the answer and it brings us closer to God, because we wont be able to find a mistake or an error. Ok I hope this has helped answer your question.

That's a good point. I think there is a difference though, between believers questioning, and seekers questioning. Once you accept Christ, you have chosen to believe the Bible is true, so questioning it with so much doubt isn't helping you grow in faith. The Bible says in James 1 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does."
But people who haven't accepted Christ yet will question, and should, so they can figure out the truth. Some people don't like anyone to question, because they believe, and they no longer understand what it was like at the beginning when they had to figure out what they believed.
I don't worry about people questioning. I know God can reveal Himself and work it all out just fine without my help. The truth is there, I just point people to the Bible and prayer. If they are willing to ask and search, God gives grace to the seekers. My job is to be a friend and help out people who need it, not convince anyone whether God exists. That's God's job.

Very interesting...But, I don't think they're "lying" per se, I think what happens is that they their religion & "the Bible this & the Bible that" becomes programmed into their psyche from years of what I call systematic brainwashing. We are born with intuition, part of nature (a huge source of "Divine Knowledge" that many Christians fail to recognize), & we are also born into a particular social, cultural, political, economic structure that is our environment & extremely important in shaping our character & who we really are. So, that "system" (you know the Christian one) puts these ideas of religion into people's brains.
But, people still have our intuition, so subconsciously they "know" that what they are being "taught" dosen't really make too much sense or that there are important spiritual aspects missing. So, in order to drown out these feelings, they create (ie-lie) fantastic stories & feverently believe in something they can grasp, where it's all spelled out-the so-called "written word of God"-the Bible.
Therefore, the only way they can hold themselves together is to defend the only sense of reality they know, using any means necessary, including deception.
I believe in the psychological argument, people need so badly to believe in something that can be fully explained (like the Bible, it covers everything-from beheadings, masturbation, hmosexuals to marriage & morals) But, deep down they know that many of the ideas are simply absurd & some of the ideas proposed by the Bible are downright wrong, many accounts of actual events or facts presented in the Bible are impossible or quite improbable, at best. When faced with the advances in fields such as science, astronomy, genetics, history, philosophy, physics, archaeology, DNA, technology, etc., some people cannot ignore how flawed the Bible is as the sole source of the word of God, or the Divine.

Well, couldn't the same be applied to you? Why are you worried about people being worried about it? Using the same logic, we could conclude that you are lying about lying. See the absurdity? Christians (many) worry because we believe that a life without Christ results in an eternity without God in Hell. We don't want that for people. Some Christians are simply concerned with being "right" for whatever reason.

Interesting point dude.......
The religious sure are quick to defend at the slightest provocation.
The one thing that I just cannot fathom is when they start quoting from the bible as if that is some sort of proof. If you are quoting to a non-beleiver the bible has no meaning for him or her at all !! You might as well quote from a book on car maintenance.
I am not trying to have a poke at religious folk - they are entitled to their own views just like you and me. However, sometimes their approach to a discussion or answer can be very high handed.
....cheers

WEll this is very simple actually. I dont know what makes you think that you can't question GODs word but you can, Thats just it God gave us freedom of choice. He would like us to choose his ways but he gives us choice. And its good to question any how because we learn from questions. The only thing God asks us to do is just believe, even if we cannot understand. Personally i dont think we were ever ment to understand EVERYTHING. Gods passion and love for us is un measurable and your right you shouldnt care what people question you should care about the answer that is given. Hope this helped. :)

I don't care if you question God, it doesn't change my faith whatsoever.
the problem lies, especially on Yahoo, where people come on here pretending to ask innocent questions and all they're doing is making fun of Christians.
I'm not saying you do that. but a lot of people do.
and then of course, you have idiot Christians who would rather make fun of you than give you any help. Jesus warned against Christians like that.
so I guess it's just the result of a public forum like this.

Some people get upset about EVERYTHING.
However, I find the value of a man's soul to be worth the concern of him/her bypassing salvation, not because they question the word, but because they reject it.
The bible says, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor 1:18
That's why the Word of God doesn't make sense and seems stupid to some.

I don't have a problem with people questioning the Bible or the existence of God. True knowledge begins with questions. True wisdom begins with fear of the Lord.

I don't really care that there are people who question what I believe. In fact, I welcome honest, sincere questions. I even welcome curiosity questions. After 10 years as a minister, I've even grown accustomed to questions coming from people who are just out to prove me wrong...
I think you are right, we shouldn't hide... thought I do believe some Christians hide because they've grown tired of the "prove you wrong" questions, arguements, discussions and debates. it's not that they are lying, they are just tired of defending what they believe.
