We have 2 outside dogs, medium to large size, beagle/ lab mix, that we can not keep. They are about 12-15 months old, and probably weigh about 20 pounds. We have moved, and can not take them with us, but can not leave them at our previous place since we are no longer staying there either. We dont want to send them to the pound where they will be put to sleep, but after useless efforts to give them away free, we dont know what else to do. Any advice??

Give it to any of your friends or relatives who would like to keep them. You can place an ad in the local newspapers. I m sure there will be many pet lovers. All the best!

Is there a feed store around? Vet clinics, farm stores, feed stores all have reader boards where you can put a card up for free. Are they suitable to be working dogs? Therapy dogs, search dogs etc don't need papers and there's usually contacts around looking for prospects. If you're in an area like there there's LOTS of free dogs...what do yours do to stand out and get that special home? Will they retreive? Might they be suitable for hunting? There's many possibilities rather than just classified sections.
Also check at yahoogroups - there's a lot of places to list finding dogs home on there, also free.
It would be a shame to put them to sleep but better than a bad home or abandoning them. :-(
Good luck.

Put fliers at local shopping centers, vet offices, laundry centers, convinence stores, anywhere there are advertising boards... you can also place free ads on many radio stations and if you don't mind paying a small fee, you can place an ad in your local newspaper or the free ad papers you see in many stores. Be sure to list all their good qualities and explain why you must give them away. I believe there are also organisations that will take them without risk of their being put to sleep. Also spread the word at your jobs, have friends and family spread the word also. Good luck, I know how special pets can be and how sad it is to think of their being mistreated. Please ask those responding to your ad how they feel about pets and why they want them. It's better to put them up for adoption at pet rescue centers than give them to someone who will mistreat them. Also, if there's a petsmart or other pet store nearby, ask them if they could help you with the pets adoptions. :)

Try your local Craigslist.org. You can post a free ad to give the pups away.
BTW, most things people hear about the pound are not true nowadays. They do put animals to sleep, but usually only if they are not suitable for placement, such as sick, hurt, vicious, etc. Dogs like you have described would find homes very very fast, and would most likely find great new lives.

Have you tried putting an ad in the paper? Sometimes newspapers allow free ads for these things. Also, radio shows... Short of that, there are "no kill" shelters, like the Humane Society. Good Luck!

Are there any dog rescues or no kill sheltes in your area?
Try them some of them require a donation to take in your pet. That is for the veterniary care your pets will ned while in rescue. They place them in good homes and try to follow up and make sure the pets are ok.

Have you tried advertising in your local newspaper? When the pet is free they don't usually charge to advertise.
Have you tried contacting the pet rescue? You can google for your particular area. They are usually very particular who they give the dogs to so that is always conforting.
Good luck.

Try Craigslist.com, if u already know...then it is simple..if not (from the areas given, select your and place your ad on free stuff)...ppl fly in to grab free stuff. I jus gave away my fishes and the tank! Dont leave them away....please try once more and give them up to a good home. Or you can try giving them to SPCA or something..so they can takecare of giving up the dog for adoption...they are so little..>SAVE THEM!

Look for local no-kill shelters and rescues. Post ads on Petfinder.com and Craigslist.org. Put flyers up at the local veterinary clinics and petstores.
