Well shoot him again to make sure.
the dog was probably asking for it anyway, all ways barking at odd hours of the day or craping on your lawn when you weren't looking.
If your neighbor gets mad, say it was the dogs fault, he thought the bullet was a Frisbee play toy and jumped to catch it. You can always replace his dog with a nice quiet fish anyways right?

Well, if the dog was anything like MY neighbors dog, it deserved it. My neighbor's dog barks at all hours of the night, poops on my lawn, and scares my kids. It deserves a good 30.06 round in the head.

day 1 hour 1 of hunter safety make sure of your target before you even take the gun off safety also make sure of what is behind your target before you shoot.

Hide the gun and avoid your neighbors about 2-3 weeks, then calmly ask about the dog. If they say it was shot, then express sorrow at it's death.
