It seems so. I have never seen so many children who can 't spell basic vocabulary words and form a complete sentence without error. It boggles my mind why they would intentionally spell words wrong too in order to seem like they are talking cool. No Child Left Behind, uh huh..........

If American youngsters paid as much attention to their studies as they do to boy/girl friends, weight loss/gain, avatars, chickens and eggs and other such rubbish, maybe you would not have to ask the question. Do they think they are being clever when they use 'shorthand', i.e., B4U ask, etc., instead of proper English. I doubt if they can even read the words above 'Check Spelling'.

Undoubtedly yes. Especially when there is a spell check button...however it does give the upper edge to those of us who can spell and put a sentence together.

yes we are, we are addicted to spell check. I use it on every email and letter I type. I can't tell you the last time I hand-wrote anything other than a grocery list or a phone pad message.
