Because their value systems haven't been properly developed yet, and they don't fully realize how much a good education is worth. It probably doesn't help that, by all accounts, the education system today is fubar. Most kids don't recognize how much learning is worth until they get to college, and even then, some still don't.
That sounds like something an old man would say, but I'm not quit that old yet.

School is a lot of work and children just want to play and have fun. Most don't see the importance of getting a good education.

Have you ever gone to school and sat and watched/listened to the lectures? Or Lessons?. They're boring. In all reality, children need interesting things. I use to help at a Daycare, and when they would teach the children things. They would always make it interesting. There would never be a boring moment. Just consult the teacher and ask her to put some thing that the children can relate to.

Its about deprivation from known conditions. At school they are away from their parents and so feel that they are alone to face there. Moreover, they are needed to be doing something or the other at school and unlike at home they cannot rest and be indisciplined. Hence

I have two tests and tons of homework!there goes my afternoon....Dinner...can't eat...must study...next day wake up early..go to school...pop quiz!

too structured, we need something where we can be more free to find out who we are and what we're good at and that caters to each persons different ways of learning...homework is another reason we hate school

Kids enjoy playing and talking to their friends, when they are in one room for a long period of time... They tend to get antsy.
Besides, their attention span is only so much, so they get tired of it easily.
