Jesus does not exist, and never did. I have other fantasies and I prefer those. Cheerio!

Atheists believe that Jesus existed as historical records depict this to be so. Unfortunately their is no evidence to back up the claim made by the Christian movement (and not Jesus himself) that he was the son of god. This is hyperbole on a grand scale and a notion that was agreed upon by unrelated parties after his death.

To answer the second part of your statement Atheists are not angry at god as they do not believe in a god to be angry at. Some atheists would be angry at certain practitioners of certain religions for trying to impose their own limited views on the world at large, the majority of whom likely disagree and may even be angry at the proliferation of archaic ideas that although dying off, are doing so at a rate most likely far to slow to prevent a great more deaths & travesties in the name of religion.

No. I, as an atheist, don't believe in Jesus because there seems to be no evidence to support that he existed or that God exists. There, in fact, seems to be contrary evidence that contradicts what the bible holds as truth. Also, religion can be whittled down to stories that helped ancient man explain the world around him. I am not angry at God, I don't even believe in him, so how could I be?

Im not an atheist. However here are my reasons for not being christian:

Christianity makes a mockery of God. At the same time that Christians claim to worship God as an omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent being, they make him out to be incompetent bumbler. Or worse. Simple forgiveness is beyond his capacities. God must "sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule he made himself!"

This is not only an absurdity, it is an essential absurdity. It is present in almost almost all forms of Christianity, and one can scarcely remove it and remain a Christian in anything but name. By definition, all Christians worship Christ - in some form - and most worship him as a saviour.

But what, exactly, is he saving us from? Though it varies from church to church, no matter what they call it, it's God himself. A hell created by God, a world fallen as a result of God's negligence, a separation from God imposed... by God.

"It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being."
- Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith Christianity certainly isn't the first religion to promote appeasement of its gods, and if it were merely another supernatural protection racket, it would be bad enough. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Christians elevate appeasement to the realm of "personal relationship", transforming their religion into a true monstrosity.

This is the type of "relationship" that abused wives have with their husbands, that brainwashed hostages have with their captors. It is known in clinical circles as Stockholm Syndrome. Should it come as any surprise that the cries of the church, "The Bride of Christ" sound much like the cries of an abused wife attempting to protect her husband?

"He must beat me."
"I deserve it."
"He has no choice."
"It's for my own good."

These excuses don't work for human abusers, and they work even less well for God. For if God is omnipotent, he must have a choice. And if we are flawed, we are only flawed because that is the way he made us. (No excuses that we ruined his perfect creation. A truly perfect creation does not self-destruct.)

If the Christian God does exist - and I see no reason to believe that he does - he's not worthy of the name.

And that is the ultimate absurdity of Christianity.

No. This is misinformation. We are not "mad at god." That is simply not possible, as we don't believe in him.

This idea is based on more misinformation: the idea that atheists have had something terrible happen to them and they turned their back on god.

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint, but that's just not the case. Plenty of us have happy, healthy lives. The fact is that I never really believed in god, not even as a little boy. So, angry at him? Impossible.

As an atheist, I don't believe in the existence of any kind of superior being (god to you) so how can I be angry at something that doesn't exist? I do, however, believe in some things - things that can be proved by research & science.

I am an atheist and I couldn't possibly be angry at God as he doesn't exist. As for Jesus, while he possibly existed and very definitely had human parents, he seems a very nice bloke and would no doubt be appalled at the hypocrisy of many so-called Christians.

How could I be angry at or about someone who does not exist?

By the way, Jesus did exist and that is proven. So I have no problem with him. He was a Jewish Prince and Rabbi who lead a political and spiritual renewal movement. However, he was not the "Son of God", since God - as we know - does not exist.

As a logical thinker and scientist, Im prepared to consider anything that can be tested for and measured.

To this end we have the scientific method. This allows for open minded skeptics to test a hypothesis.

Now, as an open minded person I ask you to provide a paper whereby you have used a reliable method of testing to demonstrate the existence of this being you refer to as god. Once you have done this, and I need to have an exact description of the method, materials used, and a statistical test that demonstrates the probabilty of your findings, I will duplicate your experiment exactly and see if your hypothesis holds up.

Over to you.

I don't believe in God simply because I believe he was created by man to pacify us and give us comfort. I am looking for the truth, and the truth is hard cold facts, no hope of salvation, just death. To say we will be happy in a heaven forever if we just follow their rules seems ignorant and silly to me. Your God has done nothing to make me mad at him, and indeed at my weakest point hoping there was a God comforted me. But I am stronger now and can face the truth that we will die.
