When the cat starts to come to you with two fingers grab him gently on the back of the neck and say stop.

have her nails clipped regularily. give her a sisal scratching post.
they don't alway mean to scratch, but sometimes the nails are so long they protrude from the nail sheath. do not declaw as this is amputation not only of the nail, but down to the first knuckle of each toe.(very cruel!) cats need their claws to keep their upper bodies and shoulders toned and without their claws the loose muscle tone. get a pair of clippers at the pet shor and wrap her in a towel or sit her in your lap or wait until she is relaxed a gently take each foot and carefully push a each nail and clip it. or have a vet or groomer do.

You have 2 options, having them declawed, which entails a lot of pain medication and shredded paper cat litter. The other option is to put nail caps on them. They are acrylic nail cap that can be crazy glued onto the nails and should stay on for about 3-4 weeks. You have to reapply them at that time with crazy glue( don't glue yourself to the cat, not pretty when cat has had enough and you are still glued to the nail).

Please don't declaw the cat!!! This is like cutting off the ends of a child's fingers! It's barbarian and cruel to do it. Instead, why don't you get the cat a scratching post or cardboard scratching pad, and make sure it's claws are trimmed when they need to be.

If it's the back claws, chances are the cat didn't really mean to scratch you. But if he's in your lap and starts to slip, those claws are going to come out.

If you want him to keep getting in your lap, be prepared to catch him if he starts sort of slipping toward the edge. Otherwise you may have to teach him not to get in your lap.

If he scratched you while playing and has gotten too rough, *gently* swat his backside. I had to do that with one of my cats- once. And he never scratched me again.

Yep, get a vet and have their claws removed...
If they are inside cats you should do it anyways.,..
