First, there is three things that will get you back on achieving your mass-building goals:

1. Rest. Your rest program is fine as it is. The only thing I would recommend is that when you are lifting, do light weights Mon-Wed-Fri and pick 1 (ONE) of those three days (Mon-Wed-Fri) to your heavy lifting.

As follows: lift and HOLD a heavy weight for 60 seconds. No sets, no reps. Lifting heavy with reps grinds your bone joints together. Not good when you get older. Also, when you hold, keep your elbows bent, your knees bent, and your back slightly bent. Makes the muscles hold the weight, not your bones.

2. Increase the weight you lift very slowly. You should no more increase your lifting weight by more than 1 pound per week. I use steel washers to do this.

3. Keep doing aerobics. This makes the metabolism spead up so your lifting results will be better. Do aerobics every day.

For 100% safety, do all lifting with a power rack. Especially bench presses.

Be sure to include a daily multivitamin with minerals.

By gaining body weight im presuming you mean lean muscle mass and not body fat, so with that in mind follow these steps.

First, be sure that you are not expending more calories than you intake otherwise you will never gain weight, also you should be aiming to do 20 minutes of aerobic exercise maximum as this will maintain your aerobic fitness.

Eat more protein, how much? Well that all depends on your age, height and whether you weight train or not (which i suggest that you do).

Monitor your weight by using a device which not only measures your weight but your lean tissue percentage and your body fat percentage weekly, therefore you can adjust your food intake and exercise accordingly.

Lastly speak to a qualified dietician as well as a reputable personal trainer (like myself haha) for more detailed information. Good luck and god bless!

I had a hard time gaining weight too and I did so by eating either pasta late at night or drinking orange juice mixed with egg and honey in a blender. At the time I was so skinny the doctor was threatening to put me in the hospital. It took me three years to gain twelve pounds and this what worked.

Thats easier said than done.. Seek a doctor and definately eat more of the "right" foods.. Eat several times a day and start a weight lifting regiment to increase muscle mass (which is heavier than fat)
Definately eat bigger meals RIGHT BEFORE bed... never goto bed on an empty stomach.

hey hun....a lot of people thank that if you eat a lot of gunk food like dough nuts chips and stuff like that will help but it really wont....the best thang you can do is eat a lot of protein and lift weights. if you don't wont to use whey protein powders you can get plenty of it in lean meats such as fish (tuna) peanut butter & eggs or you can put a raw egg in an icecream milk shake (trust me you wont taste it) for a really good protein and calcium boost!...the weights will help bulk you up and make the scales go up for ya cause muscle is more compact then fat so i weighs a lot more without making you look pudgy :)...love daisy

Do like the Sumo wrestlers do and drink a beer with a big lunch and then take a nap right after - start doing that with big meals and you're sure to add some pounds if that's your goal...

I saw a program on TV recently that showed that kids who watched TV used less calories than a kid who stared at a blank wall. So, eat lots of fatty, high calory foods and watch 10 hrs of TV a day
