Ok, I don't get this. By the tone of your question, it looks as though you equate finding out you're really Canadian with being spawned by Satan himself.

So, you were born in Canada, so what? Unless you had ambitions of becoming the next President of the United States, or running for certain elected positions in government, I don't see why this is such a horrible problem.

As to why your parents apparently concealed this information from you.. maybe they're self-hating Canucks, eh!?

Well, were the parents LEGAL American citizens or immigrants? If so, no problem ... if not, you'll have a problem ... personally I think that if you have been brought up here since you were a baby, and you consider yourself an American, you should have the right to apply legally to become one ... this is a grey area, because deporting an adult to a country he/she has never been to, isn't really the answer .... however, anyone who came here illegally let's say from 1996 onwards, should be deported!! There is absolutely no reason why this country should allow illegal immigrants from ANYWHERE - we have a perfectly workable immigration law, just a little matter of enforcing it ....

Good question, makes you think. I totally get where you're going with this one. There's really only one very simple answer to this. Apply for Citizenship! Or move out. Ya in America it might take awhile to get the papers through, but a pending application in this country is a safe harbor that covers you from the criminal act of being illegal. It doesn't really matter if you knew or not sweetie, ignorance is not a just excuse in our legal system. I won't answer most the other questions you asked, too self destructive for me. But I will answer the one that is a mature possibility to this scenario.......No I wouldn't be ashamed. "I am what I am and that's all that I am". Popeye
Piece of cake girl.......apply for citizenship!

How about finding out what options I have legally? If I have few than I need to adjust myself to a different life. And know my blessings with God would be doing the right thing. Paul the Apostle spent most of his life in Prison-and none of us had to face that horror he went through.
I would only be ashamed if I let all my morals and values go--trying to hold on to something that was not mine.

Well first off I don't have to worry about that. I was born here and my parents were US citizens. I have my birth certificate that proves I was born here and so were my parents, a US passport, a concealed weapons permit, and more. But if someone discovered what you are saying about themsleves, then I would say they need to contact an attorney right away.

Actually I love Canada, there;s not much difference in cultures at all. I'm going there in 2 weeks. : )

I would probably hate my parents thats for sure and make them pay for my citizenship. On the other hand, if you were raised in this country it wouldn't be hard to get citizensship especially if you speak english and have went to school here your whole life. Think about it, your citizen test shouldbe pretty damn easy.

actually I would do none of those things, I'm assuming you've been living, working and paying taxes in the country your now residing in? If not, then I would leave, it's not fair to the rest of the citizens who do have thier wages garnished while you reap the same benifits. If you do choose to stay then you should do so by taking the steps for legal citizenship.

This situation is know, I have experienced it!
PINY had accepted me. Instead, I went to BU. When I went to immigration to report it, a couple of months later, they ask me to prepare to leave the country! The first gray hair appeared on my head!
I had one of the most stressful weeks in my life! All those years, dreams, expenses, strategy in life seemed to get lost, because of either some constraint law or my ignorance to immediately report the transfer!
After all, I was never called to leave the US and when I called to find out what my situation was, they knew nothing!!!!

Well I certainly wouldn't harm myself. Sheesh What a drama queen we are. Talk to the INS if you want to become an American citizen, if not you can also go back to Canada. Its no big deal. You are free to do as you choose. I think you should go to Hollywood and explore your talents in drama.
