if you really want to know what the booger is, it is mucous that is lodged in your nose, to the back of you nasal cavity, the purpose of the mucous is to capture particles, or bacteria that should not be in your body. It is basically a protection device that your body has against foreign invaders, so when you hock a loogie or get the snot out, you are basically kicking out the bad guys. When the mucous get dry, it captures all the what stuck, inside, so then you have a dry booger, and that is what people flick out when they pick their nose..eewwwwwwwwww.
