I believe CCM is ok as long as the words are true, and the music itself does not overwhelm, drowning out the lyrics.

I am a Christian and I try not to listen to CCM. I get the impression that the artists who record this type of music just want to sell records and make money. As a Christian we are not to be part of the World and to me this music sounds just like the Worldly music except the lyrics are about God.

I'm not a fan of current CCM scene. I think its all redundant; the music ten years ago was way better. Examples...Point of Grace, Newsboys, Dc Talk, Supertones, Five Iron Frenzy, 4 Him, Cindy Morgen...this was all great stuff and now most of those bands don't even exist any more. Good music has been replaced by "christian rap or rap/rock"; how these people get contracts is beyond me...

i'm a Christian and that i looooooovvvveeee CCM. i have continually loved music of many kinds--fantastically rock. I grew up listening to Kiss, Def Leppard, etc. (oops, am I exhibiting my age!?! LOL) I even married a drummer!! i'm no longer a "holy curler" who thinks rock music is the muse of all evil. Songs of any type could have an outstanding or adverse message--it really is all in the lyrics. I now take heed to a CCM station only about for all time. The bands are tremendous and the message is even more advantageous! at the same time as i'm using i'm able to crank it up and sing alongside a twin of I continually have with different varieties of music. the perfect component is that it keeps me targeted on God! It lifts me up and reminds me what it skill to me to be a believer. The bible talks of praising Him with music and dance. Who can argue with that? Favorites contain Kutless, Casting Crowns, third Day, Jeremy Camp, MercyMe only to call some.

Well some of it is really good. But we should be cautious when we label something as 'Christian". Much of this so-called Christian music has nothing to do with Christianity. Some of it is just sensual worldly music sung by a person who sometimes goes to a church. We have to make a clear distinction here. Lets think about it-is there a such thing as a Christian whore? I can not see the difference some times.

I am a Wiccan (ex-christian). I have no problem with any type of music I just don't listen to CCM or country western. Artists should sing about what they feel and it is up to us whether or not we choose to listen to it.

Some of the CCM is ok, but overall I'm not fond of it. I love the hymns and I love accapella music - when I worship in music I like it to be at a speed that it can come from my soul, and not just emotionally charged, which I witness quite frequently - a lot of times, I think they forget those of us who grew up on the hymns and are older, require a little more breath and oxygen! I am a Spirit and Truth Christian - I listen mostly to the music at church, but at home I sing them in worship to the Lord so that we can commune in Spirit and in lung capacity I'm capable of!

I'm a christian and enjoy CCM. With that said, I still don't care for much rap or other songs where you can't really understand the lyrics.

This is a tough one to answer. I personally don't care for most CCM, but as it brings a lot of people closer to Christ, I have no place to say it is wrong. I think it is more of a question of personal taste rather than wrong vs. right. As a Christian, and a minister, I have to accept that God wants to reach all people and I don't always understand every tool He chooses to use. Who am I to say that God can't use Christian Rap to reach young people? That would be mighty presumptive of me... and dangerous, as from that point I would be putting limits on God based on the way I think. Or am I the only one who remembers the Bible saying "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

First off let me state that I'm a Christian. Contemporary Christian music is fine. The style of music used to worship God doesn't matter, the content and motive behind the songs are what counts. I myself listen to Christian heavy metal and I find that the presence of God is just as strong when I listen to that as it is when I listen to Contemporary or the old hymns.
