Like previous response, you're in their custody now, so any injuries from this point can result in lawsuits.
The reason police use force that may seem unjustified is that they don't want to die. If they don't use force in an instance where they think it might be needed - once - they could be opening up themselves for retaliation. Police are trained to assess situations and act accordingly. Another reason that force seems unjustified is because the cops are PREVENTING retaliation by acting first. It's a judgement call that is almost never questioned, unless grave or deadly force is used.

you said:more likely than not deserved. deserved or not, cops should only use force only enough to effect an arrest-and no more. when you give up or are handcuffed and taken under control. no more force should ever be used.police too,are responsible for their actions.many prisoners:once understanding they can't escape, get more angry at themselves and try to hurt themselves by bashing their head into a car frame for many reasons.cops enforce laws, but are are there to also protect you-sometimes against yourself.

The police are allowed to use whatever force is necessary to take you into custody, if you're resisting arrest. Most people that struggle will give up once the cuffs are on--at that point, no more force is necessary. They warn you not to bump your head because they honestly don't want you to hurt yourself.
Police aren't out there to beat the crap out of everyone they see--they're out there to enforce the law.

There are two kinds of cops: good ones who have the balls to do something when they see something that is wrong, and gutless wonders who prey on the helpless and write parking tickets.

Wow. Never thought of it like that.
Maybe its because if they hurt you in the cruiser they can be charged but outside the cruiser they cant be charged becaue it could be called self defense.

Well maybe I need to live in the town you live in because in Chicago the police is straight shooting and killing people ....and getting away with it. I guess they figure why fight, and do paperwork , when they can shoot you and get it over with.

because you can't prove they beat you up, but if there is that door mark on your head, you could stand a good chance in court saying they bashed your head into it.
