honestly your best option is to see a doctor and ask his advice.i have a bad back with severe constant pain and i have not found any home remedy other than heat and careful stretching exercises and prescribed medications to help me.and believe me ive tried many from pultices-otc meds-hot tubs-etc.sometimes accupressure and chiropractic and messages therapies can help sometimes too.id be curious as to why heat makes it worse.usually it helps a lot.i wish for you a complete recovery, but see a doctor for the best advice.

Yep, EXACTLY what fantasy_lady428 advised:
You should use ice and heat, alternating between the two,15 minutes of each, end with the ice.
This is what my chiropractor recommened I do and it worked wonders!

The heat may be causing more swelling, which could be the source of your pain. Try a frozen towel, and then try to work your abs. Yoga yoga yoga.
