They may hurt or just feel uncomfortable when you get them. You can take tylenol if you really need, but it's not that bad. And you'll have to get used to them , which won't take long. And periodically get them tightened which can cause minor discomfort, again tylenol if needed. The end results are a nice smile, they're worth it all. Good luck.! And don't forget brush brush and brush alot while you have them.

Your teeth will fill like they're shattering for the first couple of weeks. You'll want to eat baby food, mashed potatoes, ice cream etc., because you won't be able to chew ANYTHING! It will get better though. When you get them tightened once a month your teeth will be sore, but not as sore as the first time. Also, you'll want to keep wax on the back bits that stick out or you'll get ulcers and those are PAINFUL. But really, braces aren't that bad.

They aren't too bad. The only time it really has any pain to it is when you get your bands tightened...it just makes it hard to eat a bagle or something you really have to use your teeth to eat. Of course an Advil takes care of that...That small bit of pain goes away a day or two later. Braces are the cool thing to have ;)

I had braces for 4.5 years. I did feel pain when I went in for my regular tightening. Then my mouth was quite tender for a day or two. But its WORTH it. When i was 13 years old I didnt care much, but at 28 years old Im so happy to have straight teeth. Its nothting you cant handle tho!

They are uncomforatable to sore the first few days and then you hardly notice them. The only time mine would bother me is when the wire was changed every couple of months. Because the new wire is tighter, my mouth would be sore for 1-2 days after and then I would be back to hardly noticing them.
Follow the directions your orthodontist gives you, and they won't be that bad. Plus, you'll have a fantastic smile when it is all said and done.

YES! They are the most annoying things in the whole world. And don't believe them when they tell you when they'll be coming off. I had mine on for three and a half years when they told me that they would only be on for 2 years. I hated them and i was so embarrased when i first got the,m. But i got used to them. I looked horrible in them all through highschool. I looked like a little kid in them. Nobody thought i was cute. When i got them off...o god was i gorgeous! Every guy fell over themselves to get at me . Don't eat pretzles!!!! Mybraces broke five million times from them

No, they are just a bit uncomfortable. It will take some time to get used to having them. Your gums may hurt when you first get them and eating may be different, but you will get used to it in no time. They are basically painless after the first week. Good luck!

they make your mouth sore but be sure to take ibuprofen before you get them and take it at the other recommended times. braces are cool anyway. you get to style you mouth with pretty colors! and you may hate the way it feels(soreness) the first time but it is only like that the first time and it doesn't hurt at all while they actually doing the procedure.

Only in the beginning...After a few days you should be able to get use to them, but it will hurt again when they tighten them every month. Good Luck

no. The only time they hurt me is when they had to be tightened. But it's not like a pain, that you feel like you are going to die or anything. I mean you can deal with it. Good luck. The pain is worth it to have nice teeth.
