I've found that www.fitday.com is the most user friendly diet tracking site I've used. I've used the site for over four years. Besides the food journal there is a activity journal, a weight goal section, and a journal where you can log your daily thought. And it's all free. You can even share your journal with others, by making it public it keeps you honest. They also have a PC version for $20 with some extra bells and whistles, but I find I like the free web based version better as it lets me log in at home and at work.

Spark People http://www.sparkpeople.com has options for a food journal that counts calories or a weekly menu with shopping lists. You can also journal and plan your exercise.

For just journalling calories Fit Day is good http://www.fitday.com or Calorie King http://www.calorieking.com
