Over a period of time, I have realized that once you begin to know a person, obesity becomes transparent. You see past the body into the heart. Its foolish to think people are obese only because of eating. There are many genetic factors that control how you appear.
When I see an obese person, I think he/she is obese. No more thoughts further.

Depends on how obese the person is. I work in a hospital, and we are taking care of more and more morbidly obese people every year. I see people who weigh 6-700 lbs. It is pitiful, and they are immobilized by their fat. To think someone would grocery shop for a person that big is the sad part. They are so fat, they cannot go to the store on their own. They are not doing the whole thing. They get help. Why do we encourage it?

I think it depends on the person. If they're heavy, but they are clean and their clothes are neat (and fit them properly), then I'm not inclined to think that they're gross. You can be obese and still keep yourself clean. And not everyone is obese because they live in the McDonald's drive-thru. Some people do have genuine health problems that cause them to gain weight rapidly. I, for instance, had a REALLY BAD allergic reaction to my birth control, and it caused my thyroid to go out of control. I gained about 60 pounds in 6 months, and the doctor says it will be at least a year until I'm back to where I can start to be "me" again. I don't live on twinkies and bon-bons, but I'm still heavy because of that stupid medication.
What grosses me out most is that REALLY heavy person who has their belly fat flopped over the counter when they're talking to you, they're trying to wear clothes that are about 3 sizes too small, or they look like they just don't care anymore about their hygiene. Of course, I have the same issue with skinny people who do the same thing. Wear clothes that fit, keep yourself clean, and have some tact when you're out in public people!

I think that it's quite possible that they're abusing our oxygen supply and let me tell you why...it takes more effort for an obese person to simply walk, exerting more energy, which causes then to breathe harder...so therefore, they're taking advantage of the air....also...since when is being fat a handicap? I see fat people parking in handicap all the time and it gets on my nerves...i wasn't really serious about the air thing, but I am about the handicap parking.

hey hun' i feel sorry for a lot of em' because a lot of people thank they just eat to eat...people don't stop to thank that there may be an underlying emotional problem that causes them to be that way...i just hope that one day they can learn to love there self enough to change...after all if all we do is say eww and act grossed out every time we see them then why should they make a change..as a matter of fact why not try and smile at some one like that next time it would do them a world of good ...love daisy

Not a thing. What do you think when you see a thin person?? Can someone be too thin? What do you think of Kate Moss, The Olsen sisters, Nicole Richie, Kate Bosworth, Lara Boyle????

I don't think anything. Too many of you allow outside influences to control your lives. I believe that if people starting jumping off a cliff you would say "oh it's the coolest thing today lets jump off a cliff".
