I am not sure where you live so don't know exactly what is close to you. The person who said Cancun, is on the right track. I thought however that since the destruction from the hurriane the prices in Cancun(resort-hotels) would be way down. My younger sister just got married two days ago in Cancun at "moon Palace" It was beautiful, exotic and a very inexpensive wedding/honeymoon combo. I was however suprised at how expensive some of the hotels still are. You are on the right track thought, Mexico is known for inexpensive, fun, romantic honeymoon packages. I would check out some of the other areas for lower cost though, like Cozamel, jsut a short day trip from Cancun, MUCH MUCH cheaper. Make sure to look on line for an ALL INCLUSIVE deal. They sound too good to be true, but they are GREAT. Most of the ones I have been to in Mexico, Jamaca, Bahamas, St. Lucia EVERYTHING, I mean everything is included in your quoted price. On your budget you are not going to get the upgraded Butler service, but who needs a Butler to call and make their dinner reservations for them anyway (on your honeymoon you don't need a butler hanging around , no matter how wondeful he is.
Your room, tax, tipping (no tipping allowed (always tip a few special people anyway),all food if you dine at any of the restaurants on property which can range from 3-15 depending on where you go. All beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic are free well I mean included in your up front paid for package. Breakfast, Lunch, dinner, room service, hell if you want a bottle of wine and a penut butter jelly sandwich & Pizza & crabmeat augrautin & Shrimp scampi at 2 a.m just buzz room srvice and it will be there shortly (all free)most resort so have a limited menu after midnihgt, bu there are 24 hour food diners, 24 hour bars, dancing, every water and non water sport you can imagine, or just relax in a hammock, reading a book while the waitress brings you pina coladas all day; the list of free(incuded ammeniteis is endless) Of course there are things that are offered at an additional fee, such as scuba diving, spa services, gambling(limited resorts only), and if you plan to leave the resort, taxi cabs and money to eat somewhere else. If you are on a limited budget, i would recommend that you stay at your resort and dine there enjoy every possible free included service you can unless you have a particuliar rest. in the city or town or on the island that you want to try. I always end up getting pissed off at myself for wasting money when we take a cab or hotel limo into town to try one of the fine dining rest. b/c we spend our cash that we could have used for something else and the resort usually has just as good of food as where we dined. There is normally a big variety of dining choices on property, Italian, French, Asian, Steak & Lobster, seafood, Grilled items, Continential cuisine. They serve pretty much well brand liquor but the resorts I have been to have never ever added a fee or charged If I call my liquor, for example when ordering a cosmo, If I order a Kettel one cosmo, it has been o.k same with Grey Goose, some palces limit their premium liquors to only threekinds to choose from (nothing to complain about)
Check out SANDALS
I THINK IT IS JSUT WWW.SANDALS.COM

OR TRY BEACHES, WWW.BEACHES.COM THIS IS OWNED BY SANDALS AND IS USUALLY MORE FAMILY ORIENTED SO CHILDREN CAN BE INCLUDED IN WEDDINGS AND VACATIONS.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A BREEZES ALL INCLUSIVE BUT CHECK IT OUT WWW.BREEZES.COM

CLUB MED HAS MANY-BUT I BET THEY ARE ON THE HIGH PRICE END

IF YOU GOOGLE "HONEYMOON ALL INCLUSIVE MEXICO CARRIBEAN

OR JUST GOOGLE : HONEYMOON ALL INCLUSIVE REOSRTS PACAKGES. YOU WILL GET MANY HITS, MAKE SURE TO CHOSE A REPUTABLE ONE, READ THE REMARKS WRITTEN BY THE PREVIOUS GUEST, ASK FOR BROCHURES AND NOW MOST SEND CDS, DVDS, SO YO CAN VIEW THE ENTIRE PROPERTY. NEVER GO SOMEWHERE THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS HEARD OF& THAT IS PRE-PAID ESPECAILY SITE UNSEEN.

****I WOULD MOST DEFINATELY PAY THE EXTRA COST FOR CANCELATION OR HURRICANE INSURNCE.
IF YOUR TRIP GETS CANCELLED AT SANDALS NOT ONLY DO YOU GET TO PICK ANOTHER PLACE TO GO RIGHT THEN (IF A PLACE IS AVAILABLE NOT AFFECTED BY HURRICANE, YOU GET A DOUBLE DIP B/C YO GET TO RETURN WITHIN ONE YEAR TO YOUR ORIGINAL VACAION SPOT WITHIN ONE YEAR, NO COST TO YOU.
My last three sandals expreinecs (1) Ochos rios (fabulous
(2) Grand Bahamian- a little dissapointed b/c was my anniversary and we went all out spent our savings got the extra large penthouse etc. the property was les than i expected, i was dissapointed
(3) st. Lucia can't rememebr then name of the sandals off the top of my head but the newest one, you may not even want to look at it if you are on a tight budget, our room had a private swimming pool in the room that connected to a lagoon that entered the main pool (not to be confused with the older one in st. lucia where you had private villas way up in the mountains with private pools, yes that was cool, but the hike down the mountain to and form the resort was no fun. this was my favorite and i want ot go back every year- if only i could afford it(the newest nice one in st. lucia. i loved it so much i would rather skip a summer and save for two years and return there than go to any of the others

Congrats. feel free to e-mail me @ sugara@bellsouth.net if yo have any questions I have been to at least ten destination weddings at sandals and other all inclusive reosorts

Well, where do you live? The Hamptons out at the far end of Long Island are gorgeous!!!!! If it's not too far to drive you can save $$ not taking a plane. You can also hit NYC on your way in or back!!!!

Try a romantic bed and breakfast somewhere not far from where you live? Then go and do activities together. It's not how much you spend but who you spend your time with. Congrats on your engagement!
