I'm getting a new puppy in July. I can't come up with names though. It's a vizsla, a copper colored short haired dog, thinner than a lab. I was thinking Tessie (dropkick murphys!), Poppy(or papi) or Penny. Any other ideas? i need them quick!

When naming a dog use a one syllabled and max two syllabled name. Remember what might be cute when it is a puppy might not sound so cute when it is much bigger. Use an uncomplicated name, one that is easy to use and call. If you have other pets in the house be careful that you do not have similar sounding names e.g. Abby and Gabby.When naming dogs use the K.I.S.S. principal. (Keep It Simple Stupid!). It has never failed to work for me and I currently own 23 dogs!

When I read the initial question before openng the statement below it I thought Penny and low and behold that is one of your picks! Penny is good cause its not cheezy like "copper" or "Vizzi" or whatever but a penny is copper so it makes it cute!

You've got to decide that on your own. Look at the puppy, what name does he look like would suit him? My dog's name is Dave. He is a 100+ pound chocolate lab, and as a little puppy he just looked like a Dave to me. It was an easy decision

Aw, lucky you! I've had a couple of Vizslas, Chester and Rogan, they were both boys. Poppy is nice for a girl dog, I also like Twinkle (Rogan's mum's name).

Maybe Amber or Sundance, because the darker Vizslas look tanned.

I think the name Dixie, would be good. I also like the name Penny, you said it was copper colored, and Penny was what first came to me. I also like the name Trixie.
