Actually, the chicken only went halfway across the road because she wanted to "Lay it on the line."
And of course, the Rooster wanted to meet her half-way.

1.)All the other chickens crossed the road and this one didn't want to appear different.
2.)All chickens cross roads sometimes and since there were lots of chickens around it was just a matter of time before some chicken crossed the road and this chicken was the one.

It did not cross the road at all . The one you saw this side of the road went home and what you saw on the other side was another chicken and you though the same chicken had crossed and come over to the other side.Chicken are so chiken hearted that they dont dare cross the busy road with no signals to stop the busy traffic.

to see if it could fly, of-course...when the on-coming car hit that chicken it flow but it also learnt that flying hurts......ALOT
