She does not drink and I do not really want to take food. I need to take something appropriate in the $50 range. Her youngest child is 7 months and her eldest is 9. Thanks for your help!

Try a bubble machine (they go for around $15 and will keep the kids busy outside safely for quite a while! Or a no spill bubble set that can blow their own bubbles and LOTS of bubble formula. Kids of all ages love them.

Of course, there isn't much you can get for the baby. Maybe a cute bank with a little in it to start.

As a mom, I can tell you the greatest gift is being able to sit back and relax a little and watch the kids have fun. You can spend the time catching up and you both can enjoy watching the kids have a ball!

Have fun and good luck! :)

Hi; Honestly and personally, I would think that she's pretty busy being a mom lately, so in my opinion (and since she is your dear friend), a little pampering gift just for her would be an awesome thing to give!; You can certainly put a spa basket together for under $50 and completely wow her!; Start by getting a cute basket (she can use this for the new baby's toys or anything else), find a white robe, some white spa-style slippers (The very plain and simple ones), maybe some aromatherapy candles, and Voila!; you have a gift that she will certainly enjoy, since she's a busy mom, and probably she puts herself last on her attention list. Another great idea would be a candy basket; is with the same idea as the spa basket, but add all sorts of yummy candy to it; she and her whole family will be able to enjoy it, and you can certainly put one together for under $50.
The idea is to try and think of her, and what she likes (even if you haven't seen her in 6 yrs., you still knew her back then, and chances are, she hasn't changed much...well aside from her 4 kids, patience level, and under-eye bags from the sleepless nights with her new-born). Take a trip down memory lane and try to recall things she loves and appreciated, I'm sure this can help you steer to the right direction when choosing the perfect gift for her, or anyone else you love ^_^.

Best of luck!

Get a family game like one of the Cranium games (Cadoo, Family Fun, Hullabaloo) or a junior version of Apples to Apples (there are two--7+ and 9+).

If you feel like you have to include the whole family, maybe find something small for the very young children--like a rattle or other small toy.

Wow, 4 kids?

You can get her a 40 dollar belt made of rhino leather to keep those rascals in check.

You can then spend the remaining $10 on a card that says,
"So your life of fun and freedom is officially over...."

BUBBLES! Every child loves bubbles. For the nine year old if it's a girl some play make-up is always fun. If she is a Tom Boy maybe a yo-yo or one of those paddle balls. Boy's you can never go wrong with a bat and ball, Or a kite ohhh how i used to love my kite. Till the B(^CH next door wanted to play with it and then she let it go. Good Luck!
