It happens to me all time i know its a dream and can control my dreams the way i want to.
but sometimes i when i cant control it i just wake up.
But i found out some explanation for this especially nightmare..I think usually u see nightmare because at that moment ur hand could be on your heart and at that moment ur heart is pressurised with ur body weight and wants to break free from the weight and it starts beating faster .so it gives signal to your brain and the brain shows u some weird things where u can change ur body movement and ur heart rate comes down. And thats the reason when you wake up you breath heavier and scared.
Thats called nightmares.

I used to get those all the time when I was a kid. I would say to myself "Ah. this is a dream, that's why everything is so weird." Then sometimes I would wake up, but I am still dreaming, and it would happen several times like that. I don't get those anymore. It's not really as bad as it sounds. Once you really wake up you really "know" you're awake and you wonder why you didn't realize you were still dreaming all the other times. It's kind of funny actually.

I have had something very similar to that. It's called sleep paralysis. It seems to happen to me right after I lie down to go to sleep and haven't really had time to get that deep into sleep but start seeing these scary things play out in my mind but I even think I am opening my eyes and seeing them when I'm not and then it's a challenge like to wake myself back up because I can't move and I try to scream or say something but I can't and I wonder if I don't wake up if I will die cause it's like worse than butterflies in your stomach and it can be really scary actually. It's really rare and usually accompanies people who are either narcoleptic or have anxiety problems.

I just had the same problem last night. I knew i was dreaming and i was trying to wake up in my dream. It became frustrating because i couldn't wake up. I've had that problem since i was young. I guess most people do but they don't want to admit it so they don't look weird. I know a couple of people who it has happened to. So we are not 3% but majority of humans.

You are witnessing your dreams. Most people are not aware of what they dream. One way to help eliminate the nightmares is to not eat a few hours before going to sleep.

Yes
I dreamed that I was asleep in my bed and demons were coming out from underneath it and I woke myself up in my dream to find demons coming out from under my bed again THEN I really woke up and freaked out.
I just knew there was going to be something moving around my room.
Quite a nightmare.

you are experiencing a *lucid dream*. this is very fortunate and a wonderful opportunity to learn important things. i would research lucid dreams in books, over the internet, etc. i wouldn't want to miss this big chance for interesting discoveries.

Yes, yes! It's like you are trapped inside of your own body. I normally count to three and then scream. Tell Darwin to explain this.
