I know how a Basenji is and what their personality is like, but i was just curious if anyone owned them. If you do just say how they are and if u have any stories about them.

I do! I do! I have a full African, his pedigree says at the fourth level "unknown ********* from Zaire. He's very laid back for a basenji, but does go psycho and bounce off the furniture each evening. Occasionally he will say 'woof', but I haven't heard him woof in months. He doesn't really yodel, but he does sound like an angry camel when annoyed. We have another dog and four cats and he's never given them problems. However, he is a basenji, and if I didn't keep him in a crate when unsupervised, he would definitely get himself in trouble. He ate a hole in our couch, shreadded $22 plus the wallet, and likes to eat dirty underwear. You want one???

I've never owned one but I do work at a petstore and we have gotten them in a couple times. They're really sweet dogs with a lot of energy..they supposed to be the "barkless" dogs..I know that sounds like a wonderful thing but just because they don't bark doesn't mean they don't make noise. They pretty much have a high pitched screech.

I have one. They're really active but they're so hard to find. My family found ours at a Humane Society and we've had him for 2 years now and he's super cool! He doesn't bark, but instead, he yodels. They're about 16 or 17 inches tall, and weighs around 23 pounds. He's brown and white, but they can also be black, black and white, brindle, brindle and white, or tricolor (black, brown, and white). He does what we call a "grumble" when he's happy to see us.

My sister has one. Maybe she'll see your question and tell you all about her "out of Africa" pup. She says he's quite smart.
