Religion and War

Many wars that are not Religious wars, often still include elements of religion such as priests blessing battleships. Also differences in religion can further inflame a war being fought for other reasons. Historically temples have been militray targets that are destroyed to weaken the morale of the oppenent, even when the war itself is not being wages over religious ideals.

The view upon religions versus another is very debatable. For example, in the USA, and in other places around Europe, many people would agree that terrorism is part of an ongoing war of religion. However, who is fighting who is the main topic that is so hard to define. Is it Muslims vs. Christianity? Or is it Middle East vs. The West? Many people have different views, definitions and opinions upon this subject.

Jihad

The Islamic term "jihad" (literally "struggle") can refer to religious war ("lesser jihad"), though historically, the concept refers to an inward striving for perfect faith ("greater jihad"). However, over time the term "jihad" has come to refer more to a physical war.

There has come some dispute to the previous comment, whether the "greater" or "lesser" form of jihad refers to physical combat or an inner struggle. The debate comes from a hadith, or narration from the Prophet Muhammad, where he was quoted as saying, after returning from combat, "We have returned from the lesser jihad (jihad al-asghar) to the greater jihad (jihad al-akbar)".

Some view the greater jihad to be that of "the sword," or physical combat, using multiple references to the importance of fighting (al-qital) in the Qur'an and narrations from the hadith as evidence. Beside all of this, both sides of the debate agree that the physical fight requires an initial overcoming of spiritual dismay, which is itself an inner struggle; thus, intellectually, one could derive that both struggles, the physical and the spiritual, are encompassing one of the other. Likewise, the spiritual success supposedly leads one to yearn to fight for the sake of God, whether in pure defense or preemptive strikes, so the actual fulfilment of such inner struggle is requisite to the purity of the outward struggle

Go check the death counts in innocents between Israel IDF and Palestians since that land was stolen from them for the formation of Israel. Then look at the land control when they were started as a state and what they control now.

Israel is the violent aggressor in that area and then the US usually blocks any action by the UN against them. It's easy to see where the problem is.

According to international law Israel is illegal state. Why Jews people left their original countries and gathered in Palestine where other people live for centuries? More than that, they with the help of the west established the strongest army in the area, to attack Muslims both in Palestine and neighbor countries. Why they are committing war crimes against innocent people and kids as we so few weeks ago when they killed a whole innocent family in Gaza and only one girl Huda who is 10 years old survived the massacre?

Well we have nothing against Israel or Jews as long as they live in peace with us God says in the Quraan : And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors.

Prophet Mohamed himself had trades with the Jews and they were living in peace

and the holy war i don't know why you call it that but i think you mean the war with Muslims and Israel prophet Mohamed said that there will be a war between us in the end of time ....that's all :)

Let's say one day you and your community have to leave your homes and are thrown into concentration camps or refugee camps w/ no food and w/ diseases spreading to your children. The home you had to leave was build by your great great grandfather, but now it is occupied by rich foreigners who either live in it, use it for a vacation home, or bulldozed it for a new home or orchard. Plus, Izraelites according to them are the 'chosen people' so other people including Christians are dirt, and in the Torah it says kill the Philistines and their children; specifically I think it says burn them. Wouldn't you want Izrael to be wiped off the map? A whole lot of Jews are against Izrael and have organizations against this idea of 'a land without a people for a people without a land' idea. Also in Lebanon, after the Izraelites retreated in fear, they uncovered 'soft' hills that were full of women and children. If you want you can image search and see what they did w/ your own eyes.

it is so complex problem...and i think almost the terrorism in the world now comes from this problem...i live in the middle east ...and i do not understand yet why Jews have the right in the land of the Arabic people...they think God give them the land of Israel just coz you are Jews?
what about the rights of the Plestine people???
i just want to tell you before the years of 1948 before they were given the land of Plastine...the Arbic Muslem people never fight or hate jews... ..and the jews used to live in the Arbic countries...the Westrian World supported you in taking Plastine coz they feel sin about what they did in jews..especially after the 2end world War...sorry they sow jews as a problem in their contries so they sent you away in the Middel East...and do not care that they make the most complex and bloody problem in the human modern history...a lot of people died and suffered becuse of this great problem ..and the blood still go on here in the Middel East..
and please some one help me really if God really gave the land of Arbic Plastine to the Isreal can any one show me the contrect or the document of buying...?????

NOTE:some people tell a BIG LIES here about the the Plastine`s land was empty before 1948...but the dead bodies of the innocent people who were killed by the Ireal proves that this land was not empty....and that really so silly explanation to take the land of Plastine....is that a fair law.... any one find a empty land ..just take and pertend that it was your home that God gave it to you before 4000 years...what a silly lie...

After WW2 the big three USA ,France and Britain decided that the Jews needed a home land ,So ,we in our infinite wisdom gave them the country of Palestine. The Palestinians were run out of their land , lost homes businesses and many time family members.Now I wonder why they are resentful?

it is a two way street they both dislike each other however the media is more influenced byt the west and most west are jewish than muslim thus making us believe that its the jews land but in actual fact it is the land of the natives both muslim and jews but we shouldnt label ppl by religion or by race just as loving and peacefull ppll or racist ignorant morons loving peaceful should stay in the land and exile the rest

Okay well in the Muslim community we are all brothers and sisters. That community includes the countries also. SO if you mess with one of us it's like you messed with all of them. The Israelis had no right to occupy the Palestinians land. Just like many people in Muslim countries don't like the U.S. they occupied Iraq and killed many innocent civilians claiming they had " links"
