Illegal immigration is a serious issue here in the U.S., thousands of illegals cross our southern border on a daily basis, assume false identities and either take American jobs or get on welfare (or commit violent and drug-related crimes.)
Each illegal immigrant saps money out of the American economy without putting it back in.
Please note, this is not a racial issue, this is an issue of American laws being broken. Do you have a solution or suggestion as to how we can deal with this problem?

Ok, so now I'm going to update with my own opinion - any illegal who commits a crime in the US should be IMMEDIATELY be deported upon conviction. It costs $40,000 per year to house one prison inmate, and roughly 25 percent of our prison inmates are illegal. Why are we paying for them to have three squares and a warm bed? Employers who hire illegals with false papers should also face fines and/or jail time.
The migrant worker plan is a good one, and for those who wish to work here then return home, great! More power to them.
Those immigrants who come here, work full-time, pay taxes, and are good citizens ashould be allowed to go through the naturalization process. The dishonest few who come here simply to get on welfare need to leave. now.
Let me just add that my own grandparents aer immigrants - they immigrated from post-WWII Norway, and are naturalized citizens.
It is a priviliege to be American - you either earn privilege or you are born to it. Fair or not, that's life.

1--Enforce the border, even if it means with troops. This is an invasion.

2--Sanction those who hire them. I mean jail. Even for little old ladies who hire them to mow the lawn. If there is no work, they will not come.

3--End birthright citizenship. These women who come over to shell out a kid so it will be a US citizen are a problem.

4--NO government benefits for illegals. I mean no school, no health care no food stamps, no nothing. That will also slow it down.

5--National Identity card for all, with biometrics. I used to be against this, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

6--Major jail time for the coyotes. That is if we don't shoot them as invaders and leave their bones to bleach.

Have any of u actually dealt much with illegal immigrants? They work many jobs Americans would do, just at a lower wage. This doesn't save the consumer money, the businessmen just pocket the savings. They pay no income tax, deal drugs, steal & abuse our health systems, thus using up resources that our own citizens need. As for the Native Americans, that's a dead beaten horse. Do some research on what they now receive. For instance they have cheap medical, special payments from the Government & are allowed Casinos that no other American can have. Their religion & traditions are now more protected then any other in this country. In the past they fought & killed each other for the land & food also. Let a dead dog die! Illegal immigrants would drain there resources if they could. If they want a better life, why don't they take control of their own country. As for giving amnesty, that will only make it more desirable to sneak across the border in hopes it will happen again. It will also say that our laws only count for some people & not all. Not that any of this matters at all. Our country will no longer stand as one on anything anymore. Most peoples beliefs, decisions, morals & standards change when it is to there profit. That does not make for a safe or stable country. Mexico is the worst for illegal immigration, it's own president is all for it. But illegals come from many countries & they are all a problem. And don't claim I'm a racist. My mom's last man boyfriend was Mexican (legally in the U.S.), they were together until his death. He was a very caring, gentle & hard working man & I liked him a lot. In fact the race I dislike the most is German & I am 3/4 German.

the solution should be in 2 areas:
1.- Most of the illegal immigrants DO NOT want lo live in the US. They want Jobs and money. Also the US need that labour force. The solution for this is temporary workers. They should be able to work in the US for 6 to 8 months per year. They should apply every year and they would pay taxes and have access to social programs.
2.- Close the border for illegals. But be serious about it. Put in jail people who hire illegals.
3.- The difficult part is what to do with 20 million illegals who currently live in the US. The best options would be amnesty, but go and try to sell that to the American population. The other would be to continue "As is" closing your eyes and imagining that it does not exists.
The basic principle is to resolve the problem in 20 years. When all current illegals have either become legal citizens, left the country or died. But their sons and daughters are either, legal immigrants, or temporary workers or they decided to live somewhere else.
Any solution would take one generation to resolve the problem.

The best long-term solution is to eliminate (or seriously reduce) the backlog at INS. A person in Mexico who wants to come here legally has an 18 year wait (!).

Illegal immigration is a response, not the original action. We need to do what we can to encourage legal immigration, including making it easier for people who want to follow the law to do so.

[Note, however, that illegals actually put a lot of money back into the economy. But you also have to remember that the money spent on them is a lless than what might be spent on, say, union labor, so it is not correct to think of illegals as only a drain. A reduction in the cost of food, for instance, would not be a drain since it allows the poor to buy more of it].

Your whole assumption is in error. Think about how illegal immigrants get jobs. American employers hire them knowing full well that they are illegal. This is done to get the cheap labour they provide to make the employer more money. The illegal immigrant probably spends a greater percentage of his income buying basic item to survive than you do. Yes illegal immigrants are a cost to such systems as welfare, schools, etc. but what would you do if people were dying of starvation in your neighbour hood. Or you found out that your gardener's children could not go to school. The vast percentage of illegal immigrants work at menial low paid jobs which you or your family want nothing to do with. Most are honest and hardworking but have no voice because they risk deportation and as such become a victim of rhetoric such as you have just written.

Your statement,

"Each illegal immigrant saps money out of the American economy without putting it back in."

Is simply NOT true. It is seriously hard to engage in a dialog with you when you make sweeping statements like that. You say that illegals are just here to victimize America, quite the contrary, many are taken advantage of by this country via slave labor.

I am aware, that yes some do take advantage of the government's social programs, but not all. Most just come here to eek out a living to the point of risking their own lives by coming here.

So I suggest if you want a solution to this issue, first get the facts and please get an education and let go of your bias.

One person can't. You have to be able to vote. You have to organize. Or, you could learn Spanish and become Mexican.

Just think, soon we'll have an Nascor International Highway with Mexican Custom Agents in Kansas City. Then we'll have SPP, which will make Mexico, Canada, and the US one single economy, with their decisions on immigration and trade above our own Supreme Court.

We are about to become a two teir nation over the lowest common denominator out of all three.

It appears the only way to stop illegal immigration is to turn the country over to Mexico because their laws don't allow it.

That's when we say we should coulda woulda - but didn't.

Honestly,
1. Secure the borders using troops (just to deter illegals).
2. Have a better process of citizenship.
3. Stiff penalties for employers who hire people without proof of citizenship/ green card.
4. Deportation.
5. Have the nation of Mexico become a state in the union.

AMEN I agree with you there! We need to put a wall up along the southern border since that is where the biggest problem is and have it patrolled with armed US troops. Then we can use the military to go after those that are breaking the laws by being here. They broke into the country they are stealing from our citizens and those who are legally here. As such they are a threat to this country and its people, which makes them a threat to national security. So let's use the military to clean these criminals out. Many of our military actually have a bit of free time and don't do a lot of work, so let's make them do some extra work and earn that paycheck.

DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

Round them up and deport them. Then build a 35' high and 20' thick reinforced concrete wall from Brownsville, TX to San Diego, CA. Place an armed Border Patrol Agent on the wall every 30 feet. If an illegal alien comes in again, send them to a Federal prison for 10 years. Send employers to prison who employ them.
Imprison those who overstay their visas. Imprison those who marry illegal aliens.
