BUT ITS SO CUTE WHEN THEY DO THAT!!!

though it does ruin the screen. Take Clear packing tape and make loops of it with the sticky side out. put these on the screens and after awhile it'll break the habit. you could also keep a spray bottle of water and squirt him, or shake a can of pennies at him, or some other way to startle him off, but this only works when you see him do it, and thus it'll be inconsistent for him since sometimes there won't be any punishment, and he may not get the connection between the screen and the punishment, whereas the tape is a constant, whether you're right there or not.

NEVER punish an animal after the fact, unless they're caught in the act, it won't do any good.

p.s. i would suggest two sided tape, but i don't know how wide you can get it...

Yeah! I have a 5 and 1/2 month old male kitten that does the same from the other side. He wants to go out. We think he's showing off for us, because we find it so funny. He goes all the way to the top. I clip his nails a bit (would never declaw him) and we replaced that screen with a metal one. He weighs about 6 pounds now, so I don't know how long the screen can hold up to that kind of stress.

As a former AHT (Animal Health Tech)The first clue not to declaw him is that he wants inside from outside. If you declaw him he not have the ability to defend himself as easily. The squirting him with water whenever he climbs on the door is the best solution other than installing a kitty door for him. But I like the idea of removing the screen from the door if you aren't using it.

How smart is you cat? You could teach it to open the door, but you'd have to leave it unlocked. Or you could put something over it. Cats are hard to discipline, but if you have time and patience, you could squirt the cat with water (from a water bottle) every time he/she starts to climb. If you cat goes outside, do not get him/her declawed, that puts them at real risk of all sorts of dangers. Also, a pet door would work wonders if you can do it instead, that's what I have.

Take the screen out (unless you use the screen door alot) Put a metal screen in (they don't like climbing metal ones, their claws get stuck. Trim his nails (short). Get a water bottle.

Haha!! Kinda like Garfield hanging on your car windows... the best thing to do is add a cat door, where he can come in and go out whenever he wants. Also, if you don't want to do that, you can just teach him to scratch at the door when he wants in.

build him a climbing post from a log about a mans-arm width staple on a piece of carpet and nail it to a board,12 inches by12inches plywood.or buy one, either way that will stop, also he likes to look outside alot does'nt he! so put the climbing post close to a window so he can see outside.

I had a cat that climbed the window screens! Try trimmimg his nails so that they don't have the curve on them (be careful not to quick him). That way he doesn't have anything to grab hold of....leave his back alone, or not as short....he needs something to defend himself with, just watch at first and make sure he doesn't get himself hung by his hind legs.

A squirting water bottle with just plain old tap water inside!

Not mean, it gets the job done...my cat used to climb curtains!

Can you install a kitty door? If not, you can train him to get your attention in another way or use that spray that keeps them from getting near furniture. I had this problem and used a water bottle to spray a quick, light splash of water each time and she stopped doing it after a few tries.
Good luck!
