Do pick-up lines really work on girls or is it all about appearance?

Isn't "looking the part" more important than"playing the part" for girls too. Girls accuse guys of being shallow but aren't they just as vain.

oh yeah... i think if you look bad, then nothing you say really works... the opposite is true too, brad pitt could probably say anything and get a positive response.

Although, i think girls don't put as much importance on looks as men do, but much more on how your personality is. A confident and funny, but average looking, man can probably do better than a confident and funny girl, who's average looking.

So to answer your question, i think if you look okay, not super ugly, pick-up lines might work. Now i also think it's the way you deliver the line that makes it a success or a failure. In a confident and humourous way, almost anything passes. But if you're nervous, then they sense it and you'll come by as a fake guy.

A pick-up line is like a knock on the door, it either gets the door opened or not. "Looking" or "playing" the part might get you in the door but might not keep you there. Why do men and women find it so hard to be genuine now a days. Every one is vain to some point. Is it because we are trying to fool ourselves about who we are that we feel it is OK to lie to someone else. C'mon every one lets just deal it straight.

Pick up lines can work if they are clever and delivered in a way that makes a girl smile. Its a good ice breaker and shows you are confident enough to put yourself out there and lets her know you are interested.

However, if the girl is not interested, it might not lead to a date. Don't let that discourage you and don't let it make you feel bad. It will work on the girl that is right for you.

Yes we are. Both are good. I had a guy walk up to me one time and say wow you have the sexiest legs I've ever seen. I laughed because it was such a line. We both laughed about it and I asked him to have a set. It was funny so we talked and had a good time. He did look the part and that helped too. Anyway just be yourself he was a funny guy so he said something funny and we clicked.

Pick up lines aren't a guarantee to grab a honey, they're just icebreakers. You have to play up the confidence to use them. I've been approached by guys I wouldn't normally talk to and sometimes the way they use those cheesy damn lines..are just so clever...you have to get to know more about them. For me, if the line is humorous rather than sexual, I'm interested in conversation. As we talk, I notice cleanliness in fingernails, skin, and the brightness in the eyes; whether they listen and respond to my answers to banter; and whether they laugh a lot, quietly. The clothes don't make a difference unless they're untidy and mismatched. Personality is #1 for me.
