beautiful places in your country?

Yes, it's called free enterprise. if they have the money to buy the land, why not. The "evil developers" as the left calls them provide jobs for hundreds if not thousands of people, In locations that attract people lodging is generally a concern. it seems a bit of tit for tat.

Vacation spots are magnets.. Anti-developer groups exist to stifle commerce and keep people from enjoying a place that might with a developers insight be a true destination spot

I think the leftists in many countries that rail against development would have us living in the stone, and the beauty of locations like Yosemite, Yellowstone would be unavailable for millions of people to visit each year. Some of these anti-developers are burning down developments in acts of Domestic terror, ELF (Environmental Liberation Front) are destroying property in the name of stopping development. (They claim so elitist world view) that our world should be pristine..

I've said this before, "If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there, does it make noise?"

Most developers are accutely aware of environmental and asthetic concerns before they even purchase land. If the process to develop would be too contentious developers move on and find other projects.

It is a pain to go on a griswold vacation and stay in a fleabag hotel. I'd rather enjoy the views and stay in a decent bed at night ..

hmmmmm as long as they are Eco-friendly. If for example, the only way to save the Amazon is to show people how important it is for the rest of the world, and the best way to do it is building a hotel made with leafs, and all that(like the native's houses) and offering an "encounter face to face with the nature" and stuff like that. It would be ok.
But I do hate big tourist complexes

We have enough hotels, houses & tourist amenities. The more they build, the deers run into roads & in people's backyard running thru glass sliding door's because they have nowhere to go.

There thinking about the almighty dollar, but nothing is being done. Schools are in horrible shape roads need to be repaired, but it's always said we don't have the money, but parking garage's and buildings for the city go up quickly.

Thigs that make you hmmmmmmmmmm!
