You should definitely wear whatever makes you feel good. I was married 17 years ago and my bridemaids wore black. Back then that was unheard of. You only wore black to funerals in a traditional Italian family. Guess what....they got over it. Red is the color of love. I say go for it.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable is what you should wear. Red is a fine color and having a red veil with red roses would be quite beautiful. Having a red wedding would be very sumptuous especially if it is at night. Lately, I am a big fan of mostly red with delicate metallic accents. Red on red with silver or pewter is nice.
When it comes to bridesmaids, you can have them wear red as long as they have a distinctly different but complementary style dress with different length of dress.
With flowers you can have various shades of red roses in your bouquets to add dimension.
Red is love, passionate, romantic, and is not just for Valentines' Day.
If the monochrome wedding is not for you, you can do red and purple. Your bouquet can have more purple than red, and your bridesmaids can wear purple with more red flowers than purple.
Depending on what time of year you are getting married, you can get tulips or peonies in these deep colors.
You may even want to have a moulin rouge theme where the motif could be the windmill in Paris. Rent the movie to get some ideas. Red, purple, rhinestones, and champagne.
Have fun!

Sure. Colored wedding dresses are definitely in now. It wasn't too long ago that colored dresses were all the rage and no one would wear white to their wedding. It is a modern tradition, that the color of western-culture wedding dresses is white.
White used to never be used because (1) you had to be rich to afford a white dress (2) if you stained it, it's over. There was no bleach or anything to clean a white dress. The popularity of white really started when Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburgto in 1840. Before the Victorian era there were only 2 dress colors you couldn't wear: black (mourning) and red (thought to be the color of prostitutes). Then, during the Victorian era, most women wore a black dress. This dress was to be used twice: for the wedding and for their funeral. More bang for their buck!
During the renaissance, women wore all sorts of color dresses. Orange was a popular color for brides, as were dresses w/ their family's crest colors. In Eastern culture, red is a very popular color.
Plus, before white was the color for purity, it was blue.
I don't know...I just think, it's your wedding, wear want you want and screw this supposed "tradition" that people obviously know very little about.

Yes, actually after I bought my wedding dress, my fiance and I went to a bridal show and they were modeling this really nice and elegant red dress with a white collar. If I was getting married in the winter months and hadn't already bought my other dream dress we would have used the red dress.
The wedding is about the bride and groom this is your dream wedding. Go with what you want to wear.
I went to a wedding where it was a western theme and everybody wore jeans even the bride and groom.
Congrats!

I wanted a red dress for my wedding. I used to work in a bridal store that had the most beautiful red gown by Maggie Sottero. Unfortunately by the time of my wedding the gown had been discontinued but color is continuing to be a hot trend. Do what makes you happy and I am always on if you need advice

It thats what I was into then yes, I would. I wore white on my wedding day, but I would have also considered pink too. Not just a light pink, but a very bright hot pink. I think its about what you feel comfortable in and as for tradition, well, its kind of been thrown out the window many times in the past that I hardly think it even applies now. Do whatever make you happy, you or anyone becuase when its your special day, you can do whatever you want to make it special.

I just got married a month ago... and I wanted something different!! you know, why EVERYONE should get married in a perfect white... ????
Who said it was a rule? anyway white is for virgins only.... (that's what traditions say)...
I though it was kind of boring... so I made my dress burgundy and ivory... it was beautiful...
of course I would've never married in a RED Dress only.... that is too much, but now we can really add more colors to these traditional white dresses.

Sarah Jessica Parker made a joke saying that it would be rediculous to wear a white wedding dress...she said that she was thinking of wearing a black one...Husband Matthew Broderick thought it was a joke...it wasn't. SJP wore a black wedding dress...you can wear a red one, Especially if you're a "vegas chick"
