This is a truly loaded question with as many answers as there are people on the Earth!
I do not beleve that you can lose your salvation. I also don't beleve in "backsliding." Just because you choose to give in to temptation does not mean that you'll have to "start over" with God. Even those who repetedly give in and turn their faces away for a long period of time don't have to start at the begining of their faith-walk again. After a fall, you ask God to help you up and clean you off and you just start walking again.

Hi James. I'm not sure about losing your salvation, but I know you can lose or question your FAITH. I am in that situation right now. It's difficult. The Christian bible says to 'believe as the children,' but humans are not made that way. We question everything, and in that we gain knowledge. I have been studying the history of the man we know as Jesus-his Jewish roots and what message he was really trying to get across to people. I think Christianity today is not what Jesus intended his movement to become. I think he was trying to get all people to 'Go to God,' and we have somehow gotten away from that. I don't think he ever intended to be the center of a religion, he wanted God to be the center. And to directly answer you, I guess if Jesus is Lord of you life and you follow him to the T, then backsliding won't ever be a problem. Great question. You helped me by asking!

Nothing noone and nohow can cause you to loose your salvation. If you backslide, remember the LORD'S promise that NO MAN (not even oneself) can take you out of His hand. And Jesus is in the Father's hand. He and His Father are One. That is so powerful! Blaspheming the Holy Ghost is the one forgivable sin, but you could only ever do this if you truly never had Him in the first place. Once saved always saved! It is so unfortunate that the opposite has been widely accepted as doctrine. Of COURSE we need to strive for righteousness, but Jesus is a forgiving God...he died for our shortfalls past present and future. Thank God for grace. Good question.

I believe the same Brother. I was told once you are saved you are saved. You may backslide, but you can't lose your salvation. If you backslide you just get back on track and ask God to forgive you for doing so and ask him for strength to serve him better. If you pray about it hard enough God will answer, why? Because we are all his children.

I believe that once saved always saved but the real question is are you saved. I was saved and backslide for years, then Jesus let me fall hard because I wasn't leaning on him anymore, I finally looked up and He was ready to take me back. I read in the Bible not to long ago the if anyone blasphemys Jesus that they will be forgiven but not if they blasphemy the holy Spirit because it takes a more personal application to turn your back on God in order to blasphemy the spirit.

"Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. -Psalm 69:28" Note that it said "blotted", their names were already in the book of life. Even though it says "through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved -Acts 15:11" you can still deny Christ. I believe he will put things in your path to bring you back to him but it is your CHOICE weather to or not. What about all the people who were christians for a long time and then became atheist?? Even pastors fall away.

Jesus said "that if an evil man turns from his evil ways and does righteousness, then his evil ways will not be remembered.
And if a good man turns from his good ways and does evil, then his good ways will not be remembered."
Sorry, this is not a exact quote, I am sending this from a library, but it is the general idea.
I believe that we can lose our salvation. Not if we sin once, or seven times, or etc.... But we lose our salvation if we stop turning to God to forgive us and change us.

Once saved, always saveed. I agree with you. We ask for forgiveness each day because sin is always abounding. Temptations is just around the corner. We are human and make mistakes that doesn't take away our salvation.

I will always remember when I was asked if I accepted Jesus
into my heart. My reply was "He never left!!!". Of course you will backslide....you're only human.....but Christ is there to "push" you in the right way. He will never leave your side. Always trust and
believe and remember what Jesus has said: "I am with YOU
always"!

Once Jesus is truly Lord of your life, not many will do
anything so drastic to lose their salvation.....but, we don't
decide that......God does.
