What is the maximum score a player can obtain in one break, without his opponent making a mistake to begin with?

in snooker it would be 147 if the opponent had not made a mistake.

however if the opponent started with a foul shot and left a free ball,it would be possible to score 155,but this has never been achieved,there have been quite a few 16 red clearances,but the highest score which has been achieved twice is 151.

assuming you are talking about snooker the max is 147 and achieved by potting alternate red then black (1+7) each time then the colours

The previous answers are correct. Snooker would take it 155
