If I was in that market, I think I'd end up with an Aygo too.
However, the VW Fox, Kia Picanto and Daihatsu Charade are worth a look. There have been plenty of reviews praising all of these for different reasons - depends what your priorities are.
Read the reviews on Fifth Gear http://fifthgear.five.tv/jsp/5gmain.jsp?lnk=201&make=Toyota&mk=&model=1025&x=16&y=6, What Car? http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-summary.aspx?NEW_USED=1&MA_TYPE=1&MA=42&RT=723&Submit1=GO,
etc. before making your mind up.

The Toyota Aygo is the pick of the bunch when it comes to the trio that also brough the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1. I'd say it's also worth looking at the Kia Picanto - I know, it's a Kia, but you can get great deals on them, and they're not as bad as you might think. It's a really fun, quirky car, also try the VW Fox.

The car is built in the same factory, with the same parts on the same line as the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1. There is no difference in quality they just badge them as demand changes. The Citroen retails for less than the other 2 but it's not clear whether the difference will be wiped off by resale value. Choose the one you like the look of and the dealer with the best offer.

Not as nice to drive as others in the Toyota range, the Yaris is nicer and more reliable. Stay well away from the VW Fox

Look at the Citroen C1, it is exactly the same car, really has toyota engine and gearbox, brakes, etc. slightly differnt look. They are only 5999. Citroen are doing them for 99 quid per month.
Same car, loads cheaper. Have a look!
