If you have inhaled or drank mercury it is too late to prevent poisoning. The correct procedure is to wear protective clothing and use respirators before coming into contact with the mercury.

Mercury attacks the central nervous system and endocrine system and adversely affects the mouth, gums, and teeth. High exposure over long periods of time will result in brain damage and ultimately death. (The term "Mad as a hatter" is thought to relate to occupational insanity caused by exposure to mercury compounds in the manufacture of felt hats in the 19th century).

The only treatment is to be put on a cheleation therapy to cleanse the body of Mercury. Chelating agents bind with metallic ions so that the ion is held by several chemical bonds and thus render it much less chemically reactive, produce a complex that is water soluble, and thus allow the ion to enter the blood-stream and be excreted harmlessly.

if you inhaled mercury get your *** to the hospital now and tell them you need chelation therapy now. it's the only thing that can save you and it's dependent on time. it can reverse most of the symptoms and if you even think you were exposed to mercury (ie it got in your body) go in and get checked.
