if you have the disk you can. If not you will have to buy it. You might see if the computer came with ms works which is a scaled down version of office. Word and ex cell are not integrated into operating systems (xp, win 98 etc). It is a separate program. Ms works has a full version of word and a scaled down version of excell along with several other ms programs. This program runs around $100. Office standard runs about 270 to 300.

MS Word and Excell don't usually come installed in the computer. You should have a Microsoft Works installation CD or something come with your laptop when you bought it - just run that through your laptop and voilá! It should work!

Actually you can move programs from 1 pc to another or laptop, but it does involve buying a piece of software called PCmover from laplink, which does work as i have used it myself.
Costs £30, better than £125
http://www.laplink.com/pcmover/
Or you could try find an alternative to office, a few good packages out there now.

You COULD buy it, or even get a second hand copy.
But far better (and free) is to download the OpenOffice version (http://www.openoffice.org)
It does exactly the same thing, is free and not being Microsoft doesn't have Microsoft's inefficiency and bugs.
I've got both loaded on my machine, and with the exception of it taking slightly longer to start the application up, it's in every way just as good.
It's got equivalents of Wor, Excel, Powerpoint etc.

If you have the CD. If not, you can connect both computers via network. Than copy installation files and re instal the software to your machine. (This will only work if you copied the installation CD before)
Another way, install one of those softwares that moves one machine to another. These softwares moves everything including your softwares. The only problem is software works from the copied folder only. I did not figure out a way to have it setup to run it from program files. But hey it works.

No you can't. I believe they only allow one installation per PC. So you're gonna have to buy a new MS Office
